This issue has appeared since the last bnet update. In the event you come here looking for a fix. Try all of the following. Make sure you reboot after uninstalling bnet. You will have to go into the app post re-install and re-apply your settings. Your games will be fine, just make sure the launcher is pointing at the correct folders.
It broke right after initiating a battle net service update. I’ve downloaded an installer file and running it helps boot up Battle Net. The next time I started up Bnet, the error was back again. Tried reinstalling, nothing helps.
While you’re at it, please also fix the 137mb update spam for Heroes of the Storm. It’s been over a month now without any word and that is kind of embarrassing.
If you uninstall Battle Net. Remove the Blizzard and Battlet Net folders from C:\ProgramData, Reboot, Install Battle Net. It should be fine.
Installing Bnet over the top of the current install will lead to your result. (Only works once).
I have the same problem.
After clicking on the Battle.net update I get this error
I have (had?) the same issue.
Last night in reinstalled bnet and it didnt download anything so went to bed and when i logged on this morning i got the same error after trying to update. This time around i completley uninstalled bnet then reinstalled which then prompted me to redownload bnet.
Im yet to get the option to update so im assuming its fixed? Weird issue on blizzards end it seems. Reddit are kicking up about it on a forum post on the same issue from 4 years ago kekw.
Edit: Theres also a big forum post over on NA about the exact same issue
Same issue here, guess i’ll reinstall, bnet won’t even open for me
I followed all the advice on the link. Nothing worked so, in the end, I had to reinstall the app.
I downloaded the bnet installer, runned it and it auto-updated. Didn’t need to unnistall.
It’s working good now.

This worked for me. Thanks
This happened to me yesterday after Battle.net restarted itself for an update, I uninstalled and reinstalled it again. Worked fine for the remainder of the day. Today I go to open the launcher and have the exact same issue again. Seems like something with the latest update keeps breaking.
Yes, this worked for me aswell, thanks !
Just an update from what ive seen.
On the Desktop App Tech Support Forums, someone from customer support has responded to a thread regarding this issue saying that the developers have been alerted and are looking into fixes.
Same thing, couldn’t even open app.
Just did a clean reinstall of bnet and the issue resolved.
Hey everyone,
Just to add here, this is something that is being looked into, but as some posters have mentioned, doing a clean uninstall/reinstall should resolve the error. If you are still having trouble after a reinstall or the error comes back, the following should help :
-
Using file explorer, go to where the Battle.net application is installed. Typically that’s: C:\Program Files (x86)\Battle.net
-
Look for any Battle.net.##### folders here. The ##### is probably going to be 13360 in this case. Just delete those folders and then restart the Battle.net application. A reinstall should not be needed.
This should fix the error for you.
Can’t say that really worked for me, I deleted Battle.net.13365 but upon trying to launch it it kept complaining about missing DL’s and so didn’t even try to update. There are some other odd things going on too. Even after the install for some reason on the taskbar batte.net shows as a blank page instead of the proper icon. That’s a minor issue of course, the main issue I’m experiencing is that something seems to be wrong with the launcher. Since hmm…last week thursday I’d say at times my PC just freezes for a few minutes while trying to launch WoW. While playing WoW no issues though after it does finally launch. Haven’t had any issues with netflix, other MMORPG’s or any other game for that matter. I also already verified there were no hard drive or other hardware issues and I also verified my drivers were up to date.
My Battle.NET app yesterday working, today error: “A required DLL could not be found. Please download and reinstall the Battle.net” I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the program, but to no avail.
Same here. Worked fine up until today, now it gives me the same issue. Tried all fixes and workarounds and deleted Battle.net.13434 but no success.
This is not our responsibility, we shouldnt have to reinstall the game every day (as I´ve seen some people suggest), this is Blizzards head ache. Sort it out, pls.
My sis couldnt log her bnet. I was there some says later and fixed some minor windows things, thinking that was it.
She just came here saying it still doesnt work. So it had to be Blizzard then. the bnetloader.
Went to look here.
DL the update (i dont start wow with bnetloader sheit) and got the same problem.
Uninstalled Bnetloader. No map or files left.
DL ed bnet all over, same error.
Blizzard FIX THAT SHIET
Doesnt work!
All folders gone, still that error on fresh dl
FIX IT
Exactly. I have the same problem. My game works for now, as I dont use the launcher to launch my game either but what happens when they decide to update the game? As our launchers wont launch, we wont be able to get the new updated code and in time our games will stop working.
We´re paying customers. This isnt our responsibility.
