Bolstering has to go

That is 100% true. Havent tried that boss yet with the new skills I practiced.

But 2 weeks ago the randomness of this boss was just disgusting. And I expect it to still be the case. In fact, I got no issues with randomness in general, but that boss has randomness stacked on randomness:

  • You dont know who will get 4 ticks of… That guy needs direct healing or he is dead.
  • You dont know how many puddles you can get underneath you. Sometimes its 0. Sometimes its fkin 4 in a row ! You have to move, so you cant heal.
  • You dont know where the 2nd random mechanic will spawn. Ice sometimes spawns at melee, sometimes under me (I bait at range usually).
  • You dont know if you will get dragged over a fire puddle (which hurts a LOT by the way).

All that RNG stacked on top of more RNG makes that boss the most frustrating one to heal in the whole dungeon pool.

If anything, I prefer cinderbolt to just hit harder, but not be random. Everyone gets X ticks. DONE. Everything else can be random. I would even trade the dispel of the ice (if someone steps on the ice). Sort of: You fail once you die. No dispel to save you. I prefer that to the RNG of cinderbolt.

All other bosses its just a ton of damage, or some really finicky mechanic that has to be executed…

One decent piece of tech for this is to always bait in the same place (on a marker). Then you know where you are getting dragged.

In higher keys absolutely true, yes.

Which makes this even more “interesting” is the fact that those puddles spawn while the random aoe damage is still going out. So group CDs like AMZ or Darkness are kind of bait.

Afaik it spawns on 2 random players, doesn’t it? Which players it spawns on is random though so yeah, I don’t really think you can “bait” it, just reduce the probability of 2 spawning in the melee camp.

Semi disagree with this though. You do know where the Displacement Orb is going to explode, if baited and communicated properly. Thus you also know in which direction you will be pulled towards, so you can also preposition properly to not get pulled into a fire puddle. The distance you get pulled is a bit tricky to predict though.

We usually handle this mechanic (if I play with mah bois) by assigning 1 ranged player to stand at max range, at a semi pre-determined location (usually towards the last boss portal), mark him with something like a star and have him call out the orb.

Luckily I’m immune to this mechanic as a DK though, lol.

This is probably my most prefered solution aswell. Make it hit harder, but remove the randomness, so the dmg profile is predictable and not luck based.

I did EB in 22 2 weeks ago. I had 15 ilvl less and messed up stats. Lets see this week how far I get.

Last week my premade and I were absolutely unlucky. Out of 15 keys we pushed, 12 of them were RISE or FALL. It was absolutely ridiculous. So we spent the whole week just practicing RISE.

I hope this week we get a bit more variety on keys.

I wish I had this… I usually bait at range. Im the tankiest ranged of my premade.

I have earth shield, and Naturs Guardian. Plus 25% vers and Elemental warding. Usually to kill me I need to get 4 cinders. And if I do, 1 riptide is enough to keep me alive.

Its the rest of the party that is not so lucky. So the idea is to keep all my instant Chain Heal charges up to just spam those + instant riptides with the hopes that it is enough to keep people alive just enough to get through the phase. And since everyone is stacked under the boss, the chain heal reaches everyone.

My hope is that since 4 people are at melee, most of the time the ice will spawn there not underneath me. But sometimes it does spawn on me. And I have to move.

As for the orb, I do bait it. But when its Orb + Cynder, I have to move. And I cant go far away and start dodging puddles and thinking about trajectories. I have to heal.

Dunno. Maybe this week with better gear and meme affixes it wont be so bad. Lets see.

However, if you do have suggestions I am very open to hearing them. Any tech that makes that boss a bit more bearable is welcome.

yeah i remember toxic healer in our grp that was doing literally nothing he came for dps in our grp so I pointed his uselessness to him and to stay silent, he ragequitted and we finished dungeon, as prot pala i just kept offhealing til the rest od dungeon and it really didnt make any difference . Now most of specialisations have options to offheal

He was giving healers a bad name. I hope he got kicked out of enough groups to quit healing all together.

Im happy that you finished they key anyways.

Also love Prot Palas. People that know how to play prot can literally carry a group as you mention. Really cool tanks IMO.
