The Bonesteed mounts were always advertised as flying mounts and these specific mounts were the main thing I was looking forward to unlocking in Remix and now they’ve just removed their ability to fly. Ground mounts are completely obsolete in the game now. There is no reason for them to even exist anymore.
Please Blizzard, please give them their flight back and give them the correct flight animation. It just feels so bad to put the time and effort in to unlock something only for Blizzard to come along and completely destroy it the very next day. What is even the point? You already have flying animations for horses, use them!
At this point I genuinely don’t understand why they don’t just make all mounts fly. Yes, some of the animations might look a little odd, but that’s better than them being stuck as useless ground mounts.

These mounts were also high on my list, next to the Eagles !
I remember seeing a lot of articles before Remix saying that they will be flying mounts, and throughout Remix they have been in the shop as ‘Flying Mounts’.
If this was never intended then they’ve had months to correct this. The mounts unlocked yesterday and they flew, but had no flying animation, just the doggy paddle swimming animation.
I remember looking at the vendor and seeing the label “flying mount” on them so L take by Blizz on this.
No to this tho, I like using ground mounts here and there and on certain chars I RP with. If they all become flying mounts, then when you jump, if you hit space just a bit harder, you fly off, so that’s the difference.
You have to option to not use ground mounts just like some have the option to not use flying mounts. Not everything has to be ground and not everything has to be flying.
You can still focus on your issue without going to the extreme. Yes these Bonesteed mounts in Remix should have been flying because they were labeled as such.
It would be good then to have the option to toggle all mounts between flying and ground for those that want it. But for everything outside of RP, ground mounts pretty much have no use. There are so many cool mounts which are never used because they’re locked as ground mounts.
In any case, I really hope they backtrack on this and give Bonesteeds flight back because I’ve been waiting for these mounts since Legion.
That legit sounds horrible. Having to toggle every time between the two, having mounts for each is better, I can just pick the mount. Look what they did with the toggle between regular flying and skyriding, Blizzard can’t do a toggle well..
And you are projecting, just because you never use them doesn’t mean others don’t.
Ok, that’s a fair point then, but it does still seem a shame to have so many good mounts locked to ground only when there is so little content these days that uses ground mounts.

I understand your viewpoint, I just don’t agree with it. I just don’t agree with eitherside of “all or nothing”, I don’t agree with the ones that post about removing flying from the game and I don’t agree with having all mounts fly either.
A toggle is a very “pick this or that” thing, and I want to have both at the same time, I believe where we are now is a good middle. Probably dynamic ground mounts are the next change to be made if anything.
And again, you view ground mounts from your lense of their use in content, but some people just like to use them regardless, you can very much use a ground mount in Khaz Algar for many of the quests, it will take you longer, but it’s a choice people do make.
Anyway, this got off-topic a bit, like I said, I agree with your base issue of the Bonesteeds, they should be flying because that’s how Blizz presented them initially. Maybe them being ground is just a temporary thing until they add the proper skyriding animations to them. Very lazy how they just made it to live like that, we basically had at the vendor unfinished mounts, but what can I say, put it in the “things they don’t do well” pile.
Absolutely fair enough. I do see where you’re coming from. Personally I do miss those days where you had to play through the expansion on the ground and properly explore the areas instead of just zipping from one place to the other, but lately I’ve just been stuck in the tedium of endgame stuff I guess.
In any case, yeah, their handling of the Bonesteeds has just felt dumb and lazy.
I absolutely agree that the current flying horse prancing animation looks stupid, but this is in no way the players’ fault. This is entirely Blizzard’s fault.
The prancy prance is fine for some, like for the unicorns, it gives them the whimsical feel, but the bonesteeds and headless horseman mounts should just have more running on air animations, the prance is just not edgy enough for them, animations should be made to fit the mount theme.
Definitely. It does suit the more fae style mounts like Maelie the Wanderer, but it looks so silly on my undead DK with his Ironbound Wraithcharger. It’s almost comical, which is not exactly the look I’m going for.
