Communities are good for people that know what they want - like guilds. Randoms that just want help will not bother~ and since noone is helping them… they will never learn to be helpful themselves.
Someone will ask for help at general chat or trade chat and he will get response “just join guild or community”. Nothing changed… it already works like that and people already have responses like that prepared for you (this forum included).
I just dont see how its supposed to fix anything even thought I support the idea of being helpful without profit.
This community as well as the alliance counterpart (that started last year?) are dead. Stop beating a dead horse and fighting over semantics. The two things that we take from all this
When I started Calm Keystones it felt amazing to help others… but sometimes people just gear up and move on out and have no interest in helping anyone once they get what they want.
I agree with Kyrel that this is much more (and much better imo) than the word “boost” implies. Teaching people and enabling them to perform better is so much more than just taking them through a dungeon/raid/vision for loot.
Just a quick note on this - in many threads about boost spam in trade chat, people mention using add-ons to block the word “boost” among other things, so that might get in the way of advertising to people who genuinely may be interested in improving their skills and learning. Not sure how much can be done about that, but word of mouth and positive endorsement will hopefully go a long way regardless. Communities like Zen Horde and Scared of Dungeons are frequently mentioned on the forums as they have established good reputations.
Good luck with the community - it sounds like a great thing to do. If I had more time, it’s the type of thing I’d like to be a part of. Maybe when my husband next takes a break from WoW…
I haven’t been in Calm Keystones for a very very long time but there were many reasons I didn’t enjoy helping people in there:
I always had to take the first one to sign up for a key (first come, first serve) no matter what. This, often led to people signing up for things they could impossibly complete.
I was not allowed to help people improving. When I did, this led to drama and me apparently being an elitist.
People who had no idea what they were doing, were unwilling to join voice. I would have gladly guided them through the content in voice, making it easier for them and myself.
you post this fairly often - what’s the alternative?
Its not dead its in a halt.
I can’t manage both horde, and alliance at the same time, and nobody helps me with that, so when I switched to horde, the alliance went into a halt, and I am focused on the horde for now.
When I get the time and I get help managing the horde, the alliance will come back up
Isolating? We are not isolating anyone, on the other hand we are enabling people to show kindness.
As I wrote earlier, it is not the product, its the message we want out there, if we help people they will go on to help others, and so on. That’s the goal, not isolating anyone.
But in order to get a message out there, we need a place, and our place is in form of a discord.
Bumping is against the forum CoC is it worth getting yourself into more trouble over this ? if they didn’t answer your first post they are not going to answer a bump of very unlikely .
I think your idea is great but bumping is against the forum rules and your posting in wrong section it should be under communities that is all .You show your true colours but getting angry so quick there is no need for it or to swear .
Even though we have clashed on the forums before Róbín, l think most people like what you are trying to do. So good luck, I hope you get enough people to help you
