Boosting in rated PvP, RBG in particular

What about implementing something to combat the MMR drop (intentional losing) mechanism the boosting teams use to boost lower rated players for money ? Would a bracket system work ? Say you’ve reached a certain bracket (we can use the current thresholds we already have for Combatant, Challenger etc.) you will not be able to drop your MMR back to the previous rank until next season.

Boosting is unfixable
But if they add solo / party Q to Rated Battlegrounds a MASSIVE number of people will Q and chances of getting a boosting premade will drop a lot.
But it will still happen from time to time.

Better results though.

I guess you could have a boosting service where you have characters at every bracket, but I feel that even for boosters that will be very tedious to manage as the comp setup you run with in RBGs are limited (for example the guy playing a rogue, which is almost mandatory for any RBG comp, would have to have one character “locked” to every bracket of the same class). So in my mind at least, if it wouldn’t stop boosting completely, it would severely limit its viability as a paid service.

solo/duo cross faction rated bg that doesn’t share bracket with team rated bg

been waiting since 2013 might see it in 2030

Would there be enough players to fill matches? And would the experience be noticeably different than playing in random BGs? (aside from running into some pre-made groups)

it would be random bg, with rating, and no premades allowed

two geared players who play well together are enough to swing a random bg, so will it fix things? Maybe it is enough.

2 geared players playing together can make the difference if everyone else is mostly dead weight, and their team is not completely asw

with rating eventually people will start having more gear in games, and more active asw

seeing boosters ruining the game every day…dropping their mmr by losing on purpose and then farming everyone on 1600-1800 mmr is pretty sick…casual teams rarely can win against boosters because the game is their life, they spend days to train their skills. Playing against them is auto lose and extremely annoying so i don’t understand why devs are still ignorant to this problem

just ban people like tukaramx/tukaram, pogsy among others perma IP ban would be appropiate these people have multiples of the same class they achieved hota with at 1600-2000k mmr range and they make these toxic hota/glad groups everyday effectively killing the bracket
and i dont give af that i named people here they should be banned
another solution would be if you have hota/glad you cant drop under 2.2k mmr/cr on any characters and again i dont give af if u cant play an alt at that lvl any player at glad/hota lvl can pick up any class in 3 weeks and be better than most players there are no reason people like this should grief/exploit/boost in lower brackets

ye mmr dropping and boosting are 2 of the biggest problems in wow, specially,in rated bg, its gating almost everyone to sit below 1.8, normally anyone playing regularly should be able to get around 2.1 even non meta, but the game has become so toxic in the matchmaking, people only want the absolute best of achi, meta, gear, tiers, and so on, otherwise they wont bother, even at 1.6

exactly, lIke that the hell, if they are so skilled they must play against other skilled teams instead of ruining 1500-1700 rated games

Then 80% of the playerbase will quit WoW  Nobody will get the PvP season reward. Most of the casual ppl just play and then leave to derank and get easy wins again (which is maybe forbidden but everyone do it).

Doesnt mean devs should ignore this serious problem when boosters losing their mmr intentionally and giving free wins to random teams during this which can be considered as wintrading also. And then when they finally drop mmr giving unfair wins to lucky teams they start mass-farming learning/decent teams whose mmr is 1600-1800 while these boosters supposed to be at 2300 lol
