Hello, recently I got a 3 day ban since I was “Recently caught advertising in the WoW LFG for in-game services”.

I was under the impression that in game services such as boosts were not prohibited seeing as half of the groups in group finders are WTS Boosts!? I understand if the RMT side of boost/power leveling/carries are frowned upon which I agree on, but how is this different from posting an auction on AH? If I grind an item and sell it for 300k on AH or if I grind gear and sell a level boost then how is that different? People buy it to not have to grind the item for hours themselves, and people buy the boost to not have to play the dull 7 hours of 110-120? Is this some new rule from the Galliwyx thing or is this something that has always been? Because if it is, I feel as if blizz have made 0 efforts on making it clear that it is prohibited (besides the mass ban RMT scandal) since there are so many groups, everyday in LFG and the chats. I wrote this in a ticket earlier but it was only the feedback part so I assume they won’t reply. If anyone here knows anything It would be interesting to see.

I paraphrased a bit but my question still stands which is “Why”.

Maybe I’m the one person who thought that gold for carries were legal and in that case I guess I’m the dumbass and I’m sorry to all of you who may have read the whole thing.

you used the in-game LFG tool to spam./sell. use trade chat for this

You didn’t get banned for offering boosts, you got banned for advertising it in the wrong channel.
You can advertise it in trade chat, as long as you don’t violate any rules about spamming.

Yep it’s against ToS to use LFG/LFR for it only Trade chat as far as I know also if you do don’t try to be too much spamy.

But in the email it said “Group-Finder”. I made a group under custom [WTS]. It has nothing to do with any text channels according to the email I received.

You can’t advertise in group finder. Doesn’t matter if you made the group in custom or not.

I would agree. But to me it seems, according to the EULA that any form of advertisement is prohibited . Rule C, section 3, paragraph 3,4?

Its fine to sale in trade but not in LFG there has been blue posts about use the search feature.

IF you take real Money it’s not allowed hands off that one.
If you take only Gold for it. Blizz says OK. BUT keep it in Trade Chat the Advertising.

It’s because players will see more WTS than actual groups otherwise and thus they get mad.

Thanks, @Maribél and @Nerayon. But okay fair enough. Feel like it would be easier for blizzard to ban the words “Sale, WTS” rather than dish out bans to people who don’t find it very interesting to read EULA’s, maybe it’s me idonnu. And part of my question was that in the EULA it says: any commercial advertisement, solicitation or offer through or within the Platform;. Which to me, makes it sound like trade chat and all other means of communication are prohibited for boosts and powerleveling. But I guess “any” is hyperbolic as tradechat is still fine. I guess.

commercial means real money.
selling/advertising boosts for in-game currencies is not commercial, and thus not against the rule against commercial advertisement.

The constant boost spam is the worst thing to happen to this game since the gear score epidemic in WotLK. It’s so bad that I just leave /2 on all my characters now.

Uhu, in the same section there is a paragraph gathering in-game currency, which made me think it would apply to the whole section of paragraphs. Although I think I might be dumb here, It does say in its entirety or individual components. So idonnu I’m probably just being dum dum

It’s a fairly new rule.
And the way rules work, including the law, is its your responsibility to know them, even when they change suddenly.

End of the day you were using a tool for the wrong purpose.

True, but the reason I made the thread was to understand it. I asked Why as in “Whats the mechanics behind the rule” not “Why does the rule exist” or really anything else. Your post did nothing constructive.

You can not spam in game with limit put in 15 sec cd for another message which ACTIVELY DESTROYED COMMUNICATION since you can not talk to anyone you get this CAPPED MESSAGE YOU POST TOO MUCH and you do not bother this hugely hit chat communication in any chat channels and people do not bother.

15 sec for 1 message killed chat channels.

You know what is not against rules ?

making multiple raids from botted chars and abusing certain items to make zone unplayable laggable,

Having army of bots joining bgs aka playing solo with your army against other players intentionaly making whole bg lag fast via that and using some toys.

Actively abuse and having power economy over someone else with your army of farmy bots giving you unfair advantage in world content and economic advantage this :poop: :poop: :poop::poop::poop: devs adressed by nerfing automated addon posting in AUCTION HOUSE which is CLEARLY THE CASE FOR SAME THING.
