Boring leveling

After Legion Remix I expected every new expansion to have the Heroic World Tier option.
Why is there no option to enhance the leveling experience?

Currently it’s the same boring “story mode” leveling experience as always:

  • You can’t die.
  • You fly everywhere, which is basically like teleporting in front of the next quest mob. All the beautiful terrain and structures artists have created are wasted because you zoom in the sky from day 1.
  • The new Prey feature only available at lvl 90? What the hell? It makes no sense.

Change either of these 3 and I’ll feel like I’m playing an actual game while leveling.

If you play not brainless, yes, nearly impossible.

Flying is optional. A friend and I set ourself the limitation to play on-foot/ground mount only through the story. Neither of us regretted it.

Considering it is meant as an “open world endgame” type of thing, it makes sense. But yes, a rewardless version during leveling would’ve been nice.

Why you want die? If players die much, no fun play

Take your gear off and only use a ground mount.

Hard mode activated!

No. I’m very happy being able to fly, tyvm

My only issue with Leveling, has been ALT leveling. I wish the Side Quests were available right from the get go, without having to finish the Zone Questline first. Because on my first character, I just followed the Main Story and hit 90 from that, along with Delves and Professions.

Was hoping for my Second Character to just go around doing all the side stories, but sadly, I need to finish up a Zone’s questline before having access to all the side quests :frowning:

Yeah when you finish the main story all quests should be available to you on alts.

Loa above !

Keep it that way.

I don’t miss dying as a low level 6 (irc) to a yellow mob as an Orc Warrior fresh out of training camp like in Vanilla. I was a new player so I thought it was a good idea to level up with a 2 handed green sword. I was shocked to find out after killing one yellow mob my HP was at 50%. I couldn’t believe it so I tried to force my character to engage a second yellow mob after killing the 1st and … he died.

I try to maximise my characters power level so I don’t spend too much time questing as I want to start doing LFD and LFR soon.

In my opinion you cannot compare the adrenaline you get from a normal dungeon group, LFR, going up to open world PVP, to Mithic content and arena PVP. Once you are used to that kind of excitement questing feels boring. You can elevate it’s difficulty and increase the number of deaths but that only adds more frustration to people who want to get it done as fast as possible like in my case.

Cheers.

Heroic World Tier would be optional of course, and some players like me would like the extra challenge.

Pull more mobs and elites too.

Then ride with a horse that way you can suck in all the beauty of terrain and structures.

Then get to 90.

Its not hard…

Because not everyone plays a tank, and sadly Blizzards ideas of challenging world content is just more damage, which is fine for tanky classes, but miserable for anyone else. And in case you do t know what I’m talking about:

Enchance how? After you outgeared the Heroic World Tier, it felt the same like normal Tier. For it to really work, it would need to scale infinitely or at least be tuned to maxed out Mythic track gear.

Other than that you just get a new setting that will occupy you until you outgear it like other content.

Yeah, I would just tune it for Mythic track gear, and sure, it would be outgeared by the end of the leveling. But I’m not here to design the whole system, that would be Blizzard’s job.

the success of games like dark souls, elden ring and bloodborne should make it obvious that there’s a huge market for players who enjoy a challenging overworld

by all means make it optional, but i have to agree that the current iteration of the questing experience is rather bland when everything dies so easily and poses minimal risk

idk I’ve been flying around doing my quests but I’ve also just been exploring a ton on my own incentive, first thing I did coming out of the sunwell was turn around and go explore isle of quel’danas, MT has a really neat indoor section with a giant library. Then went to visit all the side quest stories in all the places, sunsail anchorage, sunstrider isle, farstrider hold etc. and most of the time when flying to quests I got distracted to check out how this one x region I’m flying over has changed in 20 years

I’m not gonna say flying is optional, but I will say if you’re not choosing to explore on your own accord, thats not the fault of flying.

Heroic world tier would be nice.

I liked it in remix. The challenge was compensated for by more xp so even though you were slapping one mob for ages it was ‘worth’ it.
