Bots and Bots every were

I would like to express my dissatisfaction with Blizzard’s behaviour and inability to deal with bots. I’ve been playing sod since its launch on the living flame server. I must admit that at the beginning there were not too many problems with bots. But since the server was unlocked, there has been a huge wave of bots. Which is only increasing day by day, destroying the server’s economy and the players’ capabilities to farm resources, but also the pleasure of playing this game. I wanted to lvl up a new character and wherever I go, there are a huge number of bots, 90% of characters on low LVL locations and that’s only on my layer. I reported them in the game every day and I received a few e-mails thanking for input, but the number of bots only increases with each passing day. Even if I will go for a walk and visit any location where lvl 40 character can farm mobs, you can see a lot of 40lvl bots with items worth no more than 50gs with items what they receive in starting village. The whole situation is just hopeless and is another reason why the game is getting ruined and causes people to stop playing it. You’re making new content for ppl to come back just to be ruined by bots. But well, every bot is another subscription for blizzards to earn money from.

You wanted an unlocked server tho?

This is why the server was locked.

Now think about the consequences next time

They have not been able to stop bots ever.

There’s bots in every version of WoW.

With no means in SoD to get gold through farm mobs, materials or even Daily quests, Buying gold is very popular, Thus very lucrative for the bots.

Never expect blizz to fix anything, They can’t or won’t

I report like 10 + bots daily, hardly ever i get a notification in the mail that action has been taken tbh. P1 this was almost the day after i reported SFK bots for example, id get a flurry of inbox messages

yea, easier to blame players and not expect blizzard to do anything…

But need to say it might be true, due to players wow put in wow tokens, possibility to LVL boost and item boost. This game starts to be clear Pay to Win game.
You can buy lvl, gear, runs, achievements, items, everything can be both in one or other way.

That’s why that game is worse and worse every year.

Yea from big picture it looks like blizzard don’t want to deal with bots and any other issues on any of the versions of the game and still putting more options to sell you something.

Just disappointing…

Lol did my eyes deceive me or are someone actually saying its the players fault that blizzard cant handle the bot situation? Holy poop how is it possible to have a brain wired that way…

At night there are even more bots. Reporting them feels pointless. You kill 1 and 3 will spawn the next day. Blizzard (Microsoft) is greedy and can’t hire more people to fix all this. Multi billion dollar company…. But can’t handle bots… meanwhile pvt server could handle this and much more :joy:

on most private servers goldselling was not as much of an issue as it is on official servers.
the VAST majority of bots are for goldfarming and selling purpose only, not to level characters.
Thus private servers have an easy time solving the botting issue, since there isnt really one happening.

The biggest problem is having ungodly amounts of bots. I have no reason to distrust blizzards numbers of accounts banned in their banwaves, since this has been stated to be true by various sources, including former members of blizzard that worked on that.

If you take those numbers into consideration, and calculate the amount of people you would need to ban those accounts in a way you as a costumer would consider satisfacturing, you will realize they would need to multiply their staffmembers doing that by several dozen times.

I can somewhat understand why they would not want to spend that money.

In addition to bots that need to be cared about, theres also all the other work they have to do.
I recently mailed the majority of my gold to a wrong character (it was night, i was drunk), and i instantly panicked, opened a ticket since i knew that aslong as the mail was unopened its possible to get the gold back.
Ticket was solved the next morning and i had my gold back, and also a funny-sarcastic GM message that was obviously not AI generated standard text.

And what exactly is the link to WoW here ? Are you suggesting WoW is a multi billion dollar enterprise ? The revenue they gain from WoW is actually suprisingly small, compared to the real cashcows of gaming like mobile games etc.

How many employes would you need to detect and ban bots within a short timeframe ? A 100 ? Make that 5 million $ a year in salary.

The latest numbers i found estimate a revenue of 470 million US $ in 2022 for WoW.
As per the financial report from Activision Blizzard, their profit of that revenue should be between 35-60% of that raw revenue, so lets stick with a middleground of 230 million.

Would you as a company spent 2%+ of your profit to fight a fight that you would still lose in the end ? Or rather reinvest the money into projects that are far more profitable than this niche market that has been stagnant for years now ?

There is no excuse for botting when you have so much money as a company. You can easily solve it by investing. Sometimes you have to put your customers above money to keep them satisfied and if the solution is to hire more people, then that’s what blizzard has to do and stop being greedy.

WoW is the reason why Blizzard grew as a company to what it is now. They have indeed the money and are a multi billion dollar company. Again, there is no excuse

I assume you do not know how companys work. Having “so much money as a company” is completely irrelevant. You look at the amount of revenue from a particular venture, then decide wether or not this venture is lucrative to invest in or not.

Care to explain HOW to easily solve botting by investing ? I mean thats a bold claim you make.

No. You literally never put your customers above money. Never, ever. It might be necessary to invest in customer satisfaction for you to make more money, or to make money at all, but you never put your customers above money. Doing so would mean you cease to be a business.

Warcraft and Starcraft are the reason why Blizzard grew as a company.

Activision Blizzard (Or Microsoft now) =/= Blizzard =/= World of Warcraft.
I feel like im arguin with a 12 year old at this point.
If you really believe a multi billion company can wantonly spend their profit onto a tiny part of their revenue generators, especially since that revenue generator is one of their least profitable ones, then you are living outside of reality.

There is indeed no excuse to make. There is profits to make, and investments to take, or not to take.
Your feelings do not matter.

raidloggers still buy gold. that is the reason why bots are everywhere. it was an experiment to ban gdkp. but as you can see, this experiment was not succesfull

Having servers not plagued by bots and therefore giving your customer a good experience is worth trying. It is an investment as much as pushing new content or putting better performing servers online.

It is part of what people are paying for

Another day, more bots showing in starting locations…

In just a 5 min in starting zone found new wave of bots lvl mages in starting location and its already going strong for 30min. Be new player making new character and try to do quests. Video proof bellow.

Bots…

Game is a complete joke at this point

They just don’t give a :poop:

I hope someone blows the whistle on blizz with a book in the future and tells us all what we all ready know, bots are a valued (if not more) than real players they bring in serious amount of revenue they won’t give up and so lie to their customers about trying to stop them.

I would buy that book, behind the scene stuff
