So just wondering. I haven’t played classic much (mainly wotlk for a bit for the HC run by the community), and now I’m eager to start on the official HC Classic realms on Thursday. Trade being available is fine by me but begs the question, will bots ruin the experience?
I’ve heard from many a player bots in Classic are the worst they’ve been and I fear these carrying on to HC could pretty much ruin the servers. Is this possible or will bots not be viable due to permadeath?
Genuinely asking as I’m very hype for the release but don’t want to get my hopes too high.
From player forum sightings on Classic they’ve changed tactics as “training” and seemed to have formed groups.
Probably to increase survival chances massively, a bot doesn’t sleep after all so the reduced XP isn’t a problem in a group. We’ll see if this is enough to avoid permadeath really.
Bots will eventually inflate the economy in some way, there’s no way blizzard will deal with botters.
It might take some time before you notice it though, personally I’d love to see full server resets with a 18-24 month cycle or something.
I hope that there will be several times more bots than in the classic era and the server will collapse.
For everything they did in the fight against bots for the classic era or maybe otherwise.
For everything they didn’t do.
All those GMs and Devs who said that they will also play because HC is super cool. I hope they find out soon enough what their incompetence has led to.
I’m sad to say it but I would expect it to be like every other official server…
The new generation of gamers can’t stand playing the game, they wan’t to buy boosts and buy their bis-gear. And where there is a demand, someone will supply…
And since botfarmers are paying customers, Blizzard will make a good profit and have less incentive to intervene.
But mainly, when you boil it down to the essence - the game is ruined by the playerbase who partake in the GDKP-gold laundry and players buying everything they can via RMT. These people are the one’s who create the demand. And so we get what we deserve… Ruined servers.
The best part about Official HC realm is that you do not need to proof that your character never died and put some sort addon for that. This in mind HC challenge may go as far as you want it to and you will self police it as it is your personal. So if you desided not to trade anything bots won’t spoil your HC leveling expirience.
About them dying, well in Era they are noticed for being able to find weak spots between objects and slip between textures and sort of “flyhack” above celling or below ground to pick all herbs and mine ore nodes. So them cheating as always won’t get em killed the only chance is during leveling I suppose.
Totally agrees.
But… is it easier to change the mindset of thousands of players or one mindset of developers?
In this case, it looks like people are stopping rmt faster than blizzard takes ANY REAL action against the bots.
It’s a tough thing to clamp down on without disabling trading altogether (and I know some HC players would love that). Only way to do it without disabling trade is to have a no gold trading rule and people can only trade for payment in kind (i.e. items for items). A bit medieval I know but it might work?
I don’t think bots are going to be as serious as issue in HC as some of you make out.
First and foremost, there really aren’t going to be many people even getting to 60. Being able to trade and group with players isn’t going to change much; most deaths are caused by over-confidence or sheer stupidity anyway; a group just amplifies those traits.
On top of that, you could buy 1k gold to level with and then you die in a dungeon because a hunter decides ‘lol pet go brrrrrrr’. Well done, your money investment is now lost.
You can talk about HC raiding all you want, but that is a SUPER-niche amount of players, botters aren’t going to make much money off of that tiny community.
