Botting and modern wow

Total Exploitative WoW Account Actions Last Month: 167799

and this is from wrath only and i bet the 167k is just tip of iceberg on big picture

remember when bots were just the hunters farming animal skins on some corner of azeroth, now with advanced AI this is the situation we have in modern and I think this is something that needs awareness and blizzard to keep reacting with proper measures

I see people doing some scetchy stuff and weird movement around my char everyday in retail, it is these bots doing its script, top of everything else failing in pvp right now it doesnt look good if this isnt handled proper in retail aswell

you will never 100 % remove all botters and cheaters no mmorpg can do it because the community is the problem if people would stop buying illegal products the problem would solve it self but they won’t

you reap what you sow
people are buying illegal gold so you see bots everywhere to provide said illegal gold

League of legends I can understand why people do it, but for WoW o.O? man, that’s cringe.

It will be possible in the dystopian future, when privacy will no longer exist.

Just require all gamers to have their camera enabled while they’re playing. With good eye tracking software it should be easily achievable.

When you forsake ethics, anything can be achieved.

interesting take nor had any input or added any value to the post really

but heres interesting numbers announced by blizzard themselve “Total Exploitative WoW Account Actions Last Month: 167799” i imagine this is just tip of the iceberg but its a start hope they continue with it in retail aswell

Dont leave us hanging!

you can ban them all but as long as they are making enough per life cycle to both make a profit and pay for new accounts what does it matter

blizzard can brag about killing 10000 accounts but their banwave is generally to slow to cut into the botters profit

I´m leaving you hanging.

I mean you will die one day, what does anything matter

im applying similar logic as you use in case your wondering whats going on

i see you have no counter argument to this fact but do as you will the bottom line is that blizzard will not stop the botters or cheaters and you and others will contiune invain to make topics or post about it

if they were smart, they would use Tracing paper, map out the range of their attacks and skills and just hang it on the monitor.

I just gave you a counter argument but you fail to understand it

anything you say is of no value and I dont feel like reading more from airhead as yourself so Ill just express my freedom to put you on ignore now

you are either trying to defend botting or you are just airhead saying things for no reason but it is good you contribute to the raising awareness on the situation in any case with your intelligent input of “you will never ban cheaters”

Or a more logical solution would be similar to what south korea does and every account should be linked to ur ID so when u get permabanned u cant make a new account unless on someone else ID

For me it is my opinion that blizz should organize an official wowpvp bot competition. There are a lot of benefits that comes with this.
•You get to see the code tecniques

• A % of the brain power that is used to sell programs will shift to compete because bots will get better and better you will have to put the time to keep up.

•new strategies and ways to see the game might open up, it is not uncommon for the AI to come up with very out of the box tricks to win that changes the meta for professionals and casual players.

•the coder could potentially build a reputation that they would not want to damage if they sold programs to the side, this is because it’s the same skills so there is the chance the people who sell bot programs would be the same that could consider participating in the competition.

wow has the worst botting problem in the genre , at least they can’t affect retail as much as they affect wotlk classic but things are really bad over there with dk bots. it has something to do with the game itself that makes botting easier but i don’t have the tech knowledge yet to point it out. they can reduce botting by at least %90 but that would require mandatory 2FA and that’s something else that players are against of

This will be even easier when character names no longer exist.
Instead of “Slapface”, what you’ll see on the forums and in game will be my actual IRL name.

Mandatory 2-factor is dumb.

I have a physical authenticator from way back in time and it still works today and I have my phone nr tied to b.net but I have friends that don’t have any authenticator and won’t give blizzard their phone nr and they can’t really create groups for m+ or the raid, instead me or someone else they play with have to be the leaders.

i respect their choice but i honestly don’t think there’s anything wrong with giving blizz phone number since we already get pwned regularly with data breaches but again, personal choice. that’s just a powerful method on minimising botting

It did absolutely nothing in SL to stop the boost spam in LFG, which was the reason why they implemented the restriction of 2FA on making groups in the first place…

not the same thing tho, botters usually have multiple accounts and since they won’t be able to have 10 accs running at the same time , it won’t be profitible for them so they’ll stop doing it
