It’s wild to me that over all these years we have just one class that can use ranged weapons and since Legion only 2 specs.
New ranged weapon class when?
I can see Gunslinger as a plausable class. Possible dual wielding guns, or a rifle.
might seem like faking off Guild Wars but switching out a rogue spec for pistols and general sharpshootery should have been a thing ages ago (don’t even think i’ve seen a sub rogue for yonks), they don’t trial things nearly enough.
or…
Goblin sappers
more Warcraft, less furry nonsense…
Since Jaina was able to conjure arcane guns on a ship during the siege of Lordaeron, I propose giving mages an option to customize their spells to use two arcane pistols instead of complex incantatnios and hand veaving. It can be done with the new “Spellslinger” hero talents.
Tinker class . thats the only one that comes to mind
I guess the reason is that short of a “soldier” class, hunter encompasses most of the class fantasy of using physical ranged weapons pretty well.
Perhaps a tinker if they ever make it, or if “engineer” was a class, this would be another route they could take, but they didn’t.
This basicly sounds like marksman hunter or outlaw rogue.
No, based on existing classes from the strategy game and current lore a tinkerer would be a good choice for a new gun using class
I think this could kind of work if we had some conjurer specc for mages or a new class. But class flavor wise they wouldnt be equiping the weapons but basicly conjuring floating weapons wich attack while floating around. we already have had npcs do this. But i cant actually see mages equip guns
I intended for this to be a joke, I share Your opinion that gunslinging mages is a bit too much, even for this game
For tinkers, i see them more likely using cannons, laser rays and Saws, than refined gunpowder rifles. Unless by the time we get tinker as a class blizzard will also create new rifle looks that suits tinker better. Imo.
Easy fix, 3rd spec for demon hunter that uses Ranged weapons.
I think if they ever make a tinkerer tho it will combine several things from warcraft 3 to cover different speccs.
For example a dps round using a gun and gadgets ( like the w3 tinkerer could spawn a factory with wind up soldiers).
Maybe a tanking specc where the class gets into a mech like a goblin shredder
And to throw 2 things together there also was an alchemist hero in wc3 wich could be used as the tinkerer support specc. Because a tinkerer might also need some concotions for its inventions.
A gun as a standard weapon would work easily for these speccs while the mech tanking mode could function like the warlocks/demohunters metamorphosis
A musketeer spec would be cool. Guns, grenades and rapiers.
A sort of cyberpunk Gunslinger. Maybe worgen to be perfect.
Don’t you mean steam punk? because azeroth isnt modern enough to be cyberpunk
yes sorry… steampunk
Well a cyberpunk mixed with steampunk expansion with a completely updated gnomeregan and kezan as zones similair to how suramar was done would also be a pretty interesting idea
Not gun related, but I whould like to see a bard as a class and they exist in wow for example Mordresh fire eye, so not completely out of the blue. Albeit i Dont know what the different specs will be.
Rock (DPS) Minstrel (Healer) Virtuso (Healer)?
Although it makes sense that some other class should exist, seems hard to implement.
I like the Gunslinger idea, but how would that be different from outlaw and marksmanship? I can see this be a hybrid spec, where just like evokers, they occupy that mid range, and have a gameplay which requires them to move around a lot, rotating between melee and range. Not quite a rogue, nor a hunter. How would this work in a technical from a technical view point? I’ll let some qualified class designer handle this!
The dual wielding is a cool a idea, and could work with the above spec, but does that mean they’d have to make yet another weapon category, that’s exclusive (pistols and small crossbows) just like they had to add warglaives for DH?
And speaking about DH… If I recall correctly, in the Illidan novel, it describes multiple demon hunters, what their strengths were, how they adapted and blended their pre existing abilities with their new demonic powers. Think about all those elves that were talented archers in their past lives. Seems odd not having a DH spec that has a range/spell casting element to them. Again could be occupying that mid range hybrid caster realm.
Finally Tinkerers… I guess it’s one of the oldest fantasies that is still yet to be in the game, that very much could have range spec.
I’d prefer to add “sidearm” weapon type for outlaw rogues and surv hunters to use in pair with 1h weapon. A moggable, visible pistol or hand crossbow that’d add some cool looks to them. And definitely add a ranged DH spec, a fel-using spellbow.
