Given the recent events and the statements released by the top executives of ActiBlizz, in support of the victims of the abuse and the workers and to promote their demands for a better and safer workplace, I suggest a boycott taking place on the 15th of August. A day where we don’t buy anything from Blizzard, no tokens, no paid character/guild services, nothing. Before you question the effectiveness of boycotts they DO work, take a look at that link (https://www.ethicalconsumer.org/ethicalcampaigns/boycotts/history-successful-boycotts)
Here is an example from the article: MARCH: In 2020 Mexico’s president cancelled the construction permits and water rights held by brewing company Constellation Brands , Mexico. Campaign group Mexicali Resiste called for a boycott of Constellation Brands in 2018, after after it gained access to the desert region’s drinking-water supply in what the campaign group called “shady, undocumented” deals.
This could be a turning point for Blizzard and what comes next could benefit the game but first and foremost the workers, don’t let this mess go to waste
If there was a possibility to boycott only the Blizzard management, I would not hesitate for a minute and participate. But this way you will be boycotting the whole company i.e. including victims of all mentioned sexual attacks and also good employees which have nothing to do with it. So no I will pass.
I mean, I never buy those things from blizzard anyway. My next blizzard purchase would be in November when my sub needs renewing. I haven’t logged in since a week before the news broke except to take part in the mass log off so I don’t know how I can help.
A one day boycott seems a little lackluster anyway because up to then and from the 16th people will be using those services again and blizzard won’t pay attention to the blip, people will still spend the money just not on the 15th.
A month long boycott of the store would have a better impact imo, but getting enough people to join in may be difficult
I support you and hope you can get enough people to join you, like I said I don’t use the store outside my sub and that’s not due for renewal until November anyway.
Blizzard management sit back with their arms round the back of their heads saying to each other “so what did you do yesterday during the boycott”
And all the slacktivists who thought they were going to make a massive change get to sit back and think they changed the world and feel a little bit more wholesome.
Cal me cynical but a one day boycott?
You may as well go out your front door and shake your fist at a random stranger.
Slight issues, far from everyone uses the forums so you’ll at best get a fraction of a fraction from the playerbase to participate. Second issue, 1 day boycott won’t help one single bit…
…if i could boycott warlords in the blood diamond trade i would but since i cant ill just keep buying them in hope warlords grow a heart and realise what they are doing to their ppl.
I do that a lot, but that’s just Warwickshire for you…
So…what…what is it going to be called? ‘Classic Classic’?
Christ, you can tell who never played Vanilla…
Damn them with their upitty ways and demanding fair treatment, we should go back to WoW when it was all about gentleman’s grooming and how to get your moustache and beard ‘just so’, and manly things like…like…getting shot at by the French? Dying of Gout in the Philippines?
the same way you can boycott blizzard by not buying anything they sell…right?
the answer went to all of the ppl that have an excuse that a boycott will also hurt ppl that work at blizz and who are innocent…i dont see no warlord mining diamonds, bet theres plenty of innocent ppl mining them
You really should Boycott Blizzard by unsubing and refusing to sub untill they change!
