Edit: after some more testing, turns out Brann cannot outdamage or outdps you. If you go in as a healer and swing 1 hit with your melee weapon, cast a 0 damage spell, or w/e he will engage, but he can’t outdamage you.
Anyone else noticed something like this? If Brann is DPS and I am DPS also, it’s easy to have him grab aggro and hold it while you focus on one mob. You can even throw some heavy hits on his mob before you overtake him on aggro.
If I go resto he seems to be unable to grab aggro, even if I haven’t touched a mob/boss at all.
I’d really like to see him being able to grab aggro if you’re a solo healer and hold it. Else, what’s the point of being a healer in solo delves? (I usually go as dps anyway, only switching to resto for final bosses).
With every wingle “hotfix” Delves are worse and worse
The only new PVP activity - Rated Blitz is still bugged and does not count towards seasonal mount
Its the same situation in M+ … The 2nd in aggro is usually the healer, and if the tank dies the mobs b-line for the healer…
And for that reason, when the tank is gathering a pack of mobs in M+ you have to be very careful with the heals you cast. Because you can take the agro away from the tank and get 1-shot.
And it has been like this since Vanilla by the way. Its not something new or Delve specific.
There are a ton of things that heal passively. Like Nature’s Guardian. Earth Shield… ect…
Dosent have to be a direct heal.
If you do nothing at all, as you claim, then your recount should read 0 dps and 0 HPS. If there is a number under “healing done” you take agro. Especially at the beginning of a pull where Brann (or the tank in M+) hasent had time to gather any Threat.
You’re wrong. Turns out the cause is different: I’ve done some further testing and apparently Brann is programmed in such a way as that he can’t outdps you, at least if you’re resto.
As such, if I open with wind shear (no damage no healing), the enemy will still target me. If I cast a lightning bolt and do nothing Brann will match up to just below my total damage and if you’re lucky in between he can briefly grab aggro if the ability he uses somehow just barely overtakes you, but after that (if you do nothing), even though you see him attacking, he will do no dps at all according to the meter and mob health.
For what it’s worth, so was I apparently… it’s a rather odd design choice to make him in such a way that he can’t outdps you as a healer, regardless the circumstances.
Perhaps it’s something from last night or one of the previous hotfixes? Might have been like this since release, but this is the first time I’m really looking at this in detail as I only just started doing delves solo at lvl 8+
