According to whom on Wowhead? There are lots of opinions and options there, to be sure, but if someone has numbers, they should trot 'em out rather than engage in non-specific generalities.
Wowhead?!?! For Pet Battle information? Need to take that with a pinch of salt. I’d suggest sticking to Xu-Fu’s or even possibly Warcraft Pets.
All the complaints came from players who didn’t want to invest the time in their collections.
BRD is the last in the sequence of dungeons so it makes sense that it’s the hardest to complete and that specific pets/breeds were required.
The general consensus from the Pet Battling community is that these nerfs were not necessary and only catered to lazy complaints.

good. what’s the point in having breeds if there are no instances that force you do make use of them? your “play choice or style” can implement breeds, so there’s no need to seperate those.
isn’t it the same with regular wow gameplay where you pick specific class combinations to get the best results in pve or pvp?
when you can’t beat a dungeon just with ikky and zandalari raptors so it becomes impossible to finish…

Only sharing some of the comments I read about the encounters being too RNG and players being put off by not only a very small number of specific breeds being required but a very small number of pets being specifically required.
Using the pve to pvp comparison it’s like saying you have to only have these two or three classes in your raid or rbg group
That said, I completely understand all points raised about this being an end of chain dung etc, I haven’t even tried it out yet im just sharing some of the reasons why I think it was nerfed initially from various ppl in game and on the net
back then when i had those issues (small pet collection) going into the argus family achievements as a pet battle beginner i looked for the pets i need but don’t have and worked towards getting them to solve my problem.
i just don’t get what’s so hard for people to work on fixing their problems themselves instead of crying in the forums because they don’t can or want to put effort into something.
like just give me the dungeon reward pets for free then…god forbid having to actually grind them out 
we’re not arguing about the initial nerf, this mostly was necessary. what we don’t agree on with blizz is the second nerf of the dungeon
