I’ve not really played since 9.0 until TWW. i’ve noticed that some of my pets are multiples of the same breed now, even though i never would have done that.
for example just now, i checked my infinite whelpling. it should have 3 breeds, power, destruction and power/speed. but my saved pets are destructions, and 2 powers.
i started a pet battle with one that was power/speed. so i threw out one of my powers, and captured the power/speed. but now when i go into my log i still have power, not power/speed. why did it change when i captured it?
i’m using pet tracker as the only pet add on i have.
has something changed with breeds over the last 3+ years? cause i noticed this with other pets i can’t recall. just happened to be standing by CoT to test this.
Welcome back, Vintoleth! Nice to see you again.
I think that is your problem right there.
After the patch before this one, several people reported problems linked to Pet Tracker’s Breeds function. Long story, not relevant to you.
But my guess is that your Pet Tracker is reporting the wrong breeds.

There are three absolutely essential addons for pets these days
- Rematch
- Battle Pet Breed ID
- Pet Tracker
I suggest that you get the other two, and in Rematch’s Options, make sure that your Breed Source is set to Battle Pet Breed ID rather than Pet Tracker.
If you have a Blue 25 of a pet, you can also compare its breed to the official stats manually shown on the pet, for example https://www.wow-petguide.com/Pet/68820/Infinite_Whelpling/Stats to be absolutely sure of what breed you have. For Infinite Whelpling, those are
Breed |
Health |
Power |
Speed |
P/P |
1400 |
341 |
244 |
P/S |
1400 |
305 |
273 |
P/B |
1465 |
305 |
257 |
or you can fiddle with the slider on that page to get the stats for each breed of any other level and rarity.
