I’ve been trying out the healer role since 2 months now. I used to be a healer main from vanilla > WoTLK as holy paladin. Thought i’d give it a swing again but as a monk. I love it a lot, and as my gear is getting nicer and brewmaster looking interesting, I feel like giving that a try but… reading topics like these makes me not even try and I won’t unless they get better. Dont feel like gimping the whole group because Im a new tank AND play a bad spec.
Our class is not that bad, we are just playing queue simulator…

Brewmaster is by far the most fun tank but it is literally glass right now
Celestial brew does nothing, and the self healing was gutted, real shame
It feels like Brewmasters should get the ability to draw the healing orbs that they generate into themselfs like Vengeance Demon Hunter does.

The biggest problem I see with BrM right now is the way I’m rn with 637 ilvl and have to press 6 more buttons and receive triple damage a Prot or Warr should get with 15 less ilvl. I’ve tanked 12s on my Alt Prot with 620 ilvl and stressing 1/4 of what i was doing with brm and more ilvl 1 moth ago.
The point of being the hardest tank of the game is that if you play it perfect it should be somehow rewarding. But the only way it is rewarding right now is not dying.
Im tired of Blizz afraid of buffing BrM Monk cause its easy to be broken, but then you see the same classes all the time broken on leaderboards. Dh, Pala, Warrior. And its been like that last 2/3 expansion. Last patch where BrM was “STRONG” was BfA (8.X) On S1 DF was playable, was okay. And we got nerfed xdxdddxdxddd
They just hate us for some reason.
Well my way to use CB at its actual state is by reserving it on 10 stacks to cover these windows without defensives // No Purifying charges // Give ma self bit of time to breath and vivify or kite. My CB on 10 stacks gives me 4M shield, but on a 13 it lasts 1 second or less… CB at max stacks should get till 7M at least, like it used to be in DF compared to max HP
Man, i’m not sure if i’m wearing rose-tinted glasses but I sure do miss MoP BrM. Not that the previous one after this was bad by any means, but sure as hell beats having to cry to myself when my stacked self-heals aren’t… so stacked anymore.
Brew was even decent in S3 dagonflight i felt like. i could tank LARGE packs and stay alive by myself and bonedust brew + spinning crane kick was so fun, blasting out BIG DAM on big pulls. This iteration of Brewmaster in s1 tww is just pure sadness. My favorite abilities SCK and the tornado you summon around you forgot the name, they actually did damage so i could easily hold threat on AOE, now its like throwing ramen noodles around you and the mobs run everywhere except to me. Keg smash area effect so tiny it does not even cover a single trash pack on pull. it hits 3 out of 5 mobs, and the remaining 2 runs off to the dps.

Rushing Jade Wind (RJW). One of my favs too, but now better to play special delivery cause GCD are so important, even more when tanking high keys. Wasting a GCD just to renew RJW feels annoying
I think the major problem is mobs placement on this season’s dungeons. For ex. Check out the 1st pull of City of Threads, the one u do after taking the buff; I always struggle there cause if I keg smash the 3 guys at right, guy at left wont get the keg smash debuf, so no BoF dot, so no agro. U have to pull the big crab too, i do it with Crackling lightning, but u cant waste taunt to agro that single boy, cause u need to use it on your statue (AoE taunt) for AoE taunt there.
If u dont have on your setup a tricks class (Rogue / Hunter) it is horrible
I’ve personally not been able to play without statue + aoe taunt ON CD this entire season so far.
DPS just blast everything on sight and our aoe threat generators are beyond horrible. SCK, without the BoF boost (forgot the name) is absolute garbage and RJW is 10 times worse. Keg Smash alone can’t carry our threat.
I’ve thought about rerolling time and time again, and I do have a bear, BDK and ppal geared up… but those specs makes me depressed how boring they are in comparison to my beloved BrM.

I have all tanks lvl 80 and geared. And all what I can say is that I wouldn’t be able to reroll into any other tank. I feel too comfy with Brew, I love it. Sometimes that spec is the only reason I’m still playing this game.
Not asking too much, dont want him to be top tier, just to be in a good state.
Have had same issues on keys, DPSs just turn off their brains and start attacking, I always have to say “Wait 2 seconds before start attacking”. Then, each DPS is blasting a different mob, you just AoE taunted and in the middle of their burst you lose aggro of 3 mobs
Last day happened to me on a 13, started a pull, and after 7-8 seconds into the pull (While I was doing AoE Taunt at start with statue, Keg Smash, BoF, Blackout Kick+TigerPalm) lost aggro of 3 mobs. 8 seconds into the pull with the usual rotation!!! That’s not even close to be normal.
The only reason I think they buffed aggro on tanks is because now that everyone is geared they will have lots of damage. But they didn’t even buffed our aggro when we (Brews) were complainin about that since 1st week of expac. Been having aggro issues for entire S1. Stopped a bit after I got 637 ilvl but boy…
Any upcoming changes to Brew or not? I guess not.
Nothing announced or datamined, so it’s fairly unlikely to see anything other than tuning, if that.
We finally a got a small win. Cb lowered to 6 stacks. 35% pr stack. So 10% buff at max stacks.

Started brew some 2 weeks ago and i love it. Got all 13s except cot. So working on 14s soon. Suspect those are gonna be hard to pug. They all want prot pallys haha
