Bring back Dinars

Im not sure why the concept of the Shadowlands Season 4 currency Puzzling Cartels Dinar was removed from the game. For those who didnt play/cant remember the Dinars system was a bad luck protection token that would allow you to purchase a maximum of 3 total items (weapons and trinkets) from raids during season 4 of shadowlands after farming enough bosses.

In my guild we are currently in a scenario where it is easier to get Whispering Incarnate Icon and eranog ring on an alt who is clearing the first two bosses on mythic than a main that is clearing the entire instance, as considerably more items are introduced into the vault loot table. This is not fun or well designed for classes that still need these items who have just been unlucky with drops/vault (for reference we have killed mythic council 7 times and had no icon drops!).

This has made me and others wonder, why did Blizzard bin the dinar system? This could have been made available at the same time as valor was uncapped and i believe this would have been well recieved by almost everyone?

Not sure if blizzard have just forgotten this system existed but I believe a return of this system next patch would help people who may be needing certain items from the raid but have struggled with bad luck.

I wasn’t a fan personally. It meant that I felt that I had to raid, which was a bad feeling.

If I can purchase and upgrade raid trinkets by doing M+ that would be better, but then, I prefer RNG loot over deterministic loot anyway.

So I’ll hard pass.

Also stop putting the best gear into raiding, thanks Blizzard.

Its a great bad luck protection system and should never have been omitted.

I asked the same question a few weeks ago and got positive feedback on players saying this was an excellent system and wished it would come back. One of the remarks was made which is also valid, is the system was put in at the end of the expansion, though we should not rule out that the dev’s could possibly bring this back again at the end of DF.

The main thing to note about the system was that you could purchase those items across ALL the raids of the SL expansion and not just one. Also bear in mind Season 4 was an anomaly so the chances of it not coming back is also there.

I for one really hope they consider bring the system back in Season 2 and making it a feature of this expansion and future expansions.

Because you had three fated raids that was on rotation.
Dinars made sense in s4 because you couldnt farm the same raid every week, making it difficult to obtain your BIS items from the raids.

Dinars today wouldnt make much sense IMO, unless a bad luck protection is really that needed for some players to get a 1% something increase with the right items. (excluding hunter bow)

Thing is, it’s applicable to every season. Everyone has that one slot they just can’t swap out. I’ve only this morning managed to upgrade the same 402 heroic shoulders I’ve had for over a month. Would have loved to be able to toss a dinar into fixing that!

On the whole I liked the dinar system, but felt like:

  1. it should offer more types of gear
  2. the heroic/mythic upgrades needed to be accessible without doing the raid at that level

There is nothing wrong with a grindable upgrade system. We already have one, actually, it’s 418 crafted gear which we can do with farming +16 keys and hoping for a weekly spark. As such, there’s no real argument against allowing upgrades to 421 to be accessible to people clearing let’s say +18s.

Why would you exclude the hunter bow? that thing is insane and basically every hunter needs it

You can get along without it.
I was excluding it from upgrades that yields around 1% increase to dmg, as the bow can yield 2%+.

If you think the bow is only a 2% upgrade I have news for you my guy

If by ‘everyone’ you mean people who actually do raids, then sure.
I personally wouldn’t be against it, but I don’t care about it at all.

Agreed; world content needs a better one than it currently has.

I think Dinars solved a problem, albeit rather sloppily. I’d like blizzard to iterate on the idea somewhat before reintroducing it.

It was an end of expansion system not for every tier

For MM you can argue the heroic bow is pretty similar to another 418 bow, but for BM the attack speed increase is enormous, and that’s before you consider the fact that the mythic bow is 10 ilvls above any other ranged weapon in the game.

People are going to be using that thing over mythic raid rewards from NEXT tier if things stay as they are.

Yes
Good items can go across tiers unless blizzard nerfs it as they’ve done with some items in the past.
I dont see the issue.
We had the same thing in shadowlands with multible items, ows, jailer wep, rogue daggers etc.
I bet warglavies of azzinoth were pretty good in sunwell aswell.

Dinars from doing certain lvls of m+ and raids.
Upgrades to co-incide with crafting & the primal focus’ maybe along with KSM/Curve or whatever.

from my sims this morning from a 418 crafted.

heroic raz = 2% for mm
9% for BM.

That isnt a ‘you can get along without it’ discrepancy because every other upgrade at 421 mythic ilvl is under a % of an upgrade. Especially considering the hunter specs are tuned around having it and as such some form of bad luck protection SHOULD be implemented for it (vs say evoker broodkeeper staff which is BIS and a ‘normal’ drop’. Its an rng nerf that no other class has

The more I think about it, the more I am of the opinion that the bow should have been a drop in M+ with a 324 bow from raz, but no on equip effect.

This then would have made it so at least you had a shot of getting it.

Actually Gripx? you are a loser!

I quite liked the back luck protection it offered, not sure why they thought that was an idea not worth keeping but recycling dungeons was

Dinars were nice.

Maybe change them a little so they are a bit less restrictive on the content you have to do.

I am sure.
They teased with a proper game style in SL season4, then took it away. Thats why they removed Personal Loot and increased difficulty of max ilvl M+ to 20. Thats why they removed 3vs3 solo shuffle dps with the need of a healer
Thats why they made yet another frustrating bow with a low drop making all the hunters (the most played class) go crazy on the farm
Thats why they created the huge gold/time sink that professions turned out to be
Because they want us to keep running on this toxic treadmill
Because they are incapable of change, the only business model they have is based on toxicity, break classes so people reroll them…fix them and break others…so the chasers, chase FOTM again
Create silly drop % for desirable mounts
Break something then making blue posts with “we listened” titles, and fix it back as it was…
I can give much more examples but cba cuz every1 knows
