I haven’t really seen many threads about this issue but ever since the level scaling happened old raids reward way less gold now. It would be great if you could make the same amount of gold from farming those raids again. Because now profession mats will be a way less gold income because you have to compete with an entire region to sell mats. I don’t know why raw gold from old raids was nerfed in the first place. It was fun to do and farming tmog items at the sametime but now i feel less excitement doing them. Casual players need some ways to earn raw gold and this would be great if you increased the gold income again for those raids to their original state.

People have just gotten used to farm Gold in different ways now.
Just like they’re going to have to get used to farming gold now Blizz has killed the Auction house.

Big gold from old raids does encourage bots unfortunately.
It was done intentionally, officially to curb inflation, but the truth is, to make WoW tokens more desirable.

I’ve been following the bots issue, at a distance, out of interest for years. Raids were never a target for bots, Dungeons, yes - very much so. BOTanica, Grim Batol, Halls of Lightning have all been bot infested favourites. And yes, dungeon loot has also been nerfed - I just checked Botanica and got 158 gold from a run, when it used to be more like 300. At 10 runs an hour, 24/7, that adds up.
If that was their intent, they are stupid in ways I didn’t think they were stupid. I favour the idea that it was simply the easier route when they made the Chromie Time system, and they didn’t care enough to do anything specific about it.

I don’t know if I’m imagining this, but since returning and with the squish quest gold rewards seem a lot better now.

I think that gold from callings makes up for the nerf to raids, especially if you have many alts who can do callings.

And that’s the whole point of their idea. It’s done intentionally to not ‘force’ people to play old content, but rather to play new content, which I think is fine. There are so many more benefits from doing current content and farming gold here, rather than running BWL / BOT / FL on 10 alts to get the gold.
The way it works is, there is a formula that uses the item’s properties (slot, item level, etc.) and calculates a gold value. When they squished the levels, it would have been INCREDIBLY easy to modify the formula so that the same items (now all a lower item level) would yield the same gold as before. The fact that they didn’t do it despite knowing about it (it was very well documented and even complained about at the start of Shadowlands) obviously means intentionality.
By the way, trinkets seem to not be priced based on this formula, but rather individually. And you can see the result when you do a Cata raid for example. Everything is now only worth 1-5 gold, but the trinkets are still 20-40 gold. It’s pathetic.
Ofc its done purpose. This type of gold making drives gold inflation. You generate piles of gold but amounth of comodities for sale is still same which increases prices of those items and makes game economy worse for most players.
Not really true. People farm gold no matter what, it’s more of a time->gold thing. Except now most of the effective gold farming ways are really boring.
Actualy it is truth. Your other way farming gold is just another way and gold from instances would go on top of that.

If someone let’s say plays 8 hours a day, he can spend 8 hours to make X gold. Or he can run all the old raids to also make X gold. It’s the same amount of gold. Unless you want to imply that running old raids was by far the fastest way to farm gold, which clearly isn’t the case, ask any “goblin”.
Or sou can just wait 3 days til all your emmisary quest are avaible on all sour alts. Do them all in 2 hours them go farm old raids. Becouse yes spamming emmyyary on alts is best way to generate gold. Not even commenting how botting would become even more profitable and make inflation even worse.
