Bring back holy power generating for Avenger’s Shield -

It was like that since forever, Why would you change it now ? It made divine tool being minor burst and great defensive cd which made it very fun to use
OR at least add new active skill to generate holy power…

It was so fun to see talent tress until… Its always until something. We have almost the same playstyle for few years, WE DONT NEED another dumb down to spec

Far as I remember tgeir intention was for shield of the righteous to have a lower uptime. I wish they would have done it in a different way rather than making avenger’s shield feel worse to press but oh well… Like they could have lowered the duration or strength of the buff rather than nerf that.

yeah and that for what ? Prot pala can’t tank that much dmg as dk anyway, and dk seems to only get buffs in df… or because people are too dumb to manage word of glory/ shield of righteous ? If someone is too dumb to only press word of glory only while shield of righteous is up (or in drastic situations) then he shouldnt just play tank. What different reason for it ? they want to kill healing on prot pala so only dk can yolo with deathstrike ? word of glory casted on demand was good part of gameplay. GJ for blizzard for killing another fun aspect.

***Shows very well that devs don’t play the classes they are working on since they aren’t even cappable of understanding how much changes to gameplay they doing * TO WORSE by such things… ***
Nerf numbers NOT GAMEPLAY if you want it that much blizzard.

they are just butchering prot pala =) its not the best now and they nerfing it with holy shild and holy power generation.
no reason to be prot pala in df atm

No reason to be a Paladin at all once new exp releases…

Its been said before and its being asked so many times its gotten to the point everyone wants it, allow us to class change on 1 char…

So I am hanging on getting the new expansion and might let me sub run out…

Using the “captain america” shield toss is an event and very cool, especially if it chain hits multiple enemies. In any case, it deserves a instant satifying reward = 1 holy power.

*if you ask me, a 10% chance to proc 3 holy power = now we are talking.

Looking at the paladin tree and some of the other worse off classes and comparing them to protection warrior or other better off classes it honestly doesnt even look like theyre designed for the same game
As if they told their class designers just do whatever without agreeing on the level of power players should have.
An example of this is the holy shield nerf vs the spell reflect buff, is this the same game?

This game is obviously designed from the bottom up to be sorta addicting, but also to suck as much money as possible + monthly subs from players.

Most content is timegated, inkl storylines, rep etc etc. And annoyingly usually one rep is veeery slow so you cant unlock f.ex flying untill x week: its all carefully planned in advance.

You got the same with all classes and specs… it varies quite wildly which is the best or good right now… then soonish they get nerfed… while others get buffed… some classes are usually quite good all the time (their faves)…

Reason they nerf and buff quite often, is most likly to try keep things fresh and to keep people playing/learning to play a different class/spec…just to play the most optimal class/specc needed. More time spent = more sub money.

It also gives a boost to people every so often: just imagine if they now buffed holy paladin and just created two paths in the talentree: in one you choose crusaderstrike and the meleehealer line. If you choose the other, f.ex judgment, you choose the range/caster line + you count as a ranged player in raid mechanics and such. This isnt rocket science to pull off. If they did it, im certain many more paladin (and others) would be øike “yeres finally!” come back to the game.

I can kinda understand it, doing the classchanges, as if you play the exact same specc for years and years, you eventually would be insanely good at it… and it could possibly become stale and make players quit playing. Personally i would prefere getting some new spells switched in every so often just to spice things up inbetween. Case in point: the upcoming talent trees etc.

But yea it does seem like they dont have spesific experts dedicated to each class and spec all the time. You can sorta notice which classes are kinda neglected a lot of the time. Its kinda frustating.

Fair points and I am aware of some of these things but there’s one thing I kind of have an issue with

This just doesn’t feel sustainable. I know it’s how they do things but to me its tiring to keep having to swap over from class to class, I personally never did it and just fully focussed on roleplay while dropping every form of content they try to offer to me (I pay but don’t trigger metrics basically) but if I was them at some point I’d worry people will figure out they’re having their noses pulled and rather then reroll just stop playing

Or maybe not and it works like a charm

I’m speaking as someone who has been prot pal main since BC so I was never the type to swap over to alt if my class was changed, adapt and move on. It’s just for me the first time I’ve ever seen the class as a whole be stripped this bare.

Occasionally swapped over to ret to kill things quicker when soloing but even those moments were rare. I don’t really want to reroll, I’d sooner quit. I do enjoy the RP on this game and it is simply of higher quality then any other platform out there so I’ve done that question for myself is it worth paying a sub for and my answer was yes (I just don’t trigger any metrics cause I avoid content if I don’t like the content)

I like the idea of the talent tree but I don’t like how they filled it for us.
Holy’s going in a neat direction atleast with choosing melee or ranged and I’m happy for them but I feel like there’s still some issues in that tree (I hardly ever holy’d tho so I can’t really comment there)

Now that i think of it, if they do noticable nerfs and buffs on classes, it also temps players to quickly get that new class/specc by buying an instant lvl boost and go from there. This might be tinfoil hat speak on my part.

They might have maaaany more variables we/i dont know about, especially if you always keep in the back of your mind that the end goal is to milk money from every corner, if possible.

Holy Power from Avenger’s Shield is nothing more than a band aid though they have for several expansions ignored to biggest problem when it comes to Paladin and our active mitigation.

SoTR isnt just a small survival boost its acutally the only thing that stops some bosses from nearly taking 85-90% of our health with one hit in fact Sire Denathrius during season one could one shoot a Paladin tank if SoTR just dropped at the wrong time, Paladins are the only tanks that can be combo’d in less than a second if unlucky and with lower uptime on SoTR that will be seen way more.

Every other tank got tools to smooth out the damage enough to be able to survive more than two hits between heals which effectivly also keeps them alive since healing output isnt really the problem, either by having really high health or having damage reductions below a certain % or cheat deaths. Or like Druids having high amounts of both health and armor.

This was the main reason Druid was popular for a while but also Brewmaster Monk, they just survive long enough to get the heals it doesnt matter what the total damage income looks like they could take overall 100% more damage than a Paladin and it would still be prefered over being able to get killed in a second from 100%.
