Bring back Mage Tower in Legion Timewalking!

So here we are again… :clap: :clap: :clap:

Legion is next in line for Timewalking, and with it comes an amazing opportunity for allowing players access to the Mage Tower again to get their appearances!

Before I rant on, I know that this is a heated topic. :confused:

Players who already got their skins, want the Mage Tower to remain “gone forever”, because it makes their skins more exclusive and rare. And personally, I get it… It must feel amazing having a non-obtainable appearance. And it must be frustrating seeing other players fight so hard to be allowed the opportunity to acquire something that you feel you have bragging rights on.

And players who joined WoW late, wants the opportunity to unlock THEIR Mage Tower, since they never got the chance in the first place. Seeing other players in Shadowlands peacocking around the place with their unique appearances, makes us wish we had joined WoW sooner than we did.

So with that said…

Ever since the Mage Tower got removed at BFA launch, there has been Topics here on the Blizz forums in all the different Class categories, from players who never had the opportunity to get their skins. And some of those discussion threads are STILL updated weekly.

And what an excellent excuse we now have for bringing them back, with Legion Timewalking being next in line!

STILL TODAY, players are grinding Legion content to unlock their various artifact appearances! The Legion artifact appearances are a core part of what motivated players to work on their artifact weapon back in Legion, and it STILL is today during Shadowlands.

The artifact appearances are CORE part of the Legion expansion, and with the Mage Tower being gone, we have part of that core experience locked away from us!

Especially as Druid, we feel a gaping hole in our “Druid identity” when we see other Druids flashing their unique Druid forms around. To us the Mage Tower appearances are MORE than “just a weapon MOG”. We stare at our Druid form 90% of the time while playing. :tiger: :bear:

With so many years having passed by, and Legion being 2 expansions old, it feels only fair to yet again unlock the Mage Tower challenge to newly arrived players.

Of course, as it would be with Timewalking content, the Mage Tower should scale in difficulty so it fits Shadowlands gearing. If it didn’t scale then yes… The people who acquired it back in Legion have full reason to be mad about Mage Tower appearances coming back.

Players STILL needs to earn their skins! Just like how they today need to do a Mythic+15 to get their Balance of Power 3rd skin variant. It would only be fair to the players who already got their Mage Tower skins.

So please Blizzard! Take your newer players into consideration when getting around to setting up Legion Timewalking!

Before, I’d have said no, people will go mental. But these days… they’ve brought back things like Collector’s Edition mounts and pets in the game shop.

So screw it, why not

Honestly, after having already one expansion in between, why not.

But I don’t think it’d be easy to tune it correctly. Are you tuning it to back when it was first introduced or to when everyone was over-geared and ignored half of the mechanics? I wouldn’t like to see the latter option.

Esp with the current conduits and covenant abilities making or breaking entire specs, it’ll be odd.

Only way I see this happening is if they introduce the reward to the Black Market Auction House, similar to the old Tier 3 Naxx sets.

But even then, I think there would be far too much uproar. Some people would want the old Challenge Mode sets back, or the Elite PvP sets/Gladiator Mounts, whereas others would fight tooth and nail to keep it exclusive. It would either be all of the discontinued rewards or none of them.

If they add everything back to the game like amani war bear, zulian tiger, black proto, pandaria phoenix mounts, wod cm transmogs then yeah why not. I was always against it but SL is so bad and there’s no reason to log besides raiding. Bring back everything and let us grind it.

Yes pls. It was fun then it can be fun again.

Make it harder, give new color schemes.

Then all rent seekers can keep their old, tacky, outdated colors special and unique and the rest of us can just flash our new improved Warebear grin.

Same with Challenge Mode armor/weapons.

They could bring them back, but make 5th recolour for this expansion.

So the old legion ones are gone forever, and those who have them get to keep them exclusive, but those that don’t have a shot at getting a new variant

No,

I bought Legion and paid the sub just because I would lose the druid form if I didn’t do that since I didn’t want to play on Legion.

Is not fair for people who bought legion just for the forms and worked hard, just having them back now.

They can bring new colors or new forms but the old ones should never come back to be fair with people who worked on them.

Blizzard has already told the skins would not be obtained after mage tower on that time, I just didn’t knew if they would remove the artifact requirement to use them. But I expected that a lot of people, especially druids would cry a lot if they removed them forever after legion to people who obtained them.

In the end the fact people cried made then make all the druid skins available as transmog.

Plus I didn’t bought legion itself, I bought the pack who gave me acess to legion and bfa like 2 or 3 months before the end of legion. But yes I payed like 2 or 3 months of sub just to get the forms and because of that I got forced to go blind on BFA without wait for reviews :smiley:

Wasn’t a big part of mage tower testing your skills in your spec? And wasn’t a big part of knowing your spec to actually use your artifact weapon/powers?
So how will this work? We get active artifact weapons back for the mage towers?
Because dungeons and raids can (and were) easily tuned for the removal of artifact weapons but mage tower’s purpose is being able to properly use your artifact powers and stripping that, how much of a challenge is it really?
And if artifact weapons become active during mage towers, then what about tw dungeons and raids? Do we get them active there too? Is tw going to be tuned yet again to allow for active weapons inthere?
I mean, in an ideal world it would but this is still Blizzard we’re talking about, where any extra effort on old content in retail is just too much.

Not to mention that the mage tower pushed some classes to use class legendaries that were never used before, for example, demon hunter chest which made your vengeful retreat restore some of your health as an extra form of sustain. They were tuned around Legion class design and retuning them to the new expansion class design is just a waste of developers time. Some appearances, mounts, titles, achievements etc. are meant to be temporarily achievable then become exclusives. This is how MMORPG’s work. While I do understand the sadness of people who did not play in Legion so they can’t get these sweet appearances, I also did not play in Warlords so I will never get the amazing Challenge Mode transmogs as well as many other things from previous expansions.

I think they should stay unavailable just like the MoP and WoD challenge stuff.
I didn’t do the MoP challenges and i’ll always regret it but i can live without them.

Idc about the rewards, but they should bring back the mage tower permanently, because the class campaign just feels unfinished without the ending in it. The same for all content removed in WoD, MoP, etc.

mage tower skin should never become available again.
there are plenty of legion artifact skins that you can still unlock, the mage tower one is not one of those.

people used boosts and wasted resources to complete it in time, because they knew they had limited time, it was advertised as a limited time only feature, and it gave it additional value, shall they be refunded of those resources if a time limited feature is reopened again?

not to mention that after 2 expansion many specs have been altered heavily, and the magetower encounter were tailor made for the spec as they were in legion.

I don’t think it’s that big of an issue, even back then the Mage Tower was super imbalanced with certain specs having a way easier time completing it. I remember as havoc we could completly ignore some mechanics of the melee dps fight by dobble jumping over the ice barriers.

Not to mention the tower was only really challenging in the patch it was introduced, people outgeared it pretty quickly.
