If i were a new player joining the game and noticed that i had to level 140 levels through ALL the old content i would simply stop playing as it looks like a mountain to climb.
Going back to old school leveling will not appeal to new players…
That’s why I said to keep Chromie Time, more or less as is. Of course it would have to be made available to new players also.
If you want slow leveling, turn off experience at 29 or 30. Play as much as you want from vanilla, TBC, Wrath, low-level MOP, WOD, Legion, BfA. Then turn it on again and continue with the high level zones from recent expansions.
But if we had to level multiple alts through 140+ levels will be too long.
Level speed and amount of levels are two different metrics. The old leveling to past 120 could be way faster then the current leveling to 70. It is all about the experience point multiplier, and the different leveling speed modes we should have had to adjust it to our preferences.
But no, Blizzard hired devs unable to count past 120 and decided to squish the character levels, and with that obliterate the legacy that had been going on since vanilla and render the character level meaningless.
if it took you 3 months to reach max level in legion to bfa then the problem is you i got maxed in like 3 days.
Pretty sure they’re talking about classic
The problem was that old style leveling was broken due to the XP shrinks introduced with each new expansion (that were added to keep the total leveling time at reasonable levels).
You did a few quests in a hub, caught a glimpse of the story and had to move to a new zone because you outleveled it.
Some people like it fast, some slow, some like to stay in one zone, others want to play through all expansions…
The current systems are the result of lots of compromise.
I love this also more than endgame, but I just play endgame, because I get obsessed, when I have a goal in a video game
If you go by classic speed (what OP is suggesting), in Wrath 1-80 takes ~80-120hours (no heirlooms, no twinking, no JJ, no rdf), so to reach 140 you would need at least ~160-180hours (considering original leveling speeds of different expansions). Playing on average 2h/day - that’s 3months.
I rather play m+ these 2h/day, rather than re-doing old content I already did numerous times.
But yes, bring these personal insults without having any context, this adds a lot to your arguments
Players, myself included, still enjoy the old leveling system. However, a part of the playerbase don’t, and they have not yet worked out how to create a system that works for both or a bigger majority.
I don’t think classic leveling is the solution on retail, but the current way isn’t doing the game a favour either. It has alienated a lot of us.
That’s a bold statement. My son, a new player, stopped playing because leveling was too fast AND he got forced into BFA leveling.
“The whole point of playing IS leveling” was his comment when he cancelled his sub.
New player doesn’t mean you are one spesific type of player. It just means you are a new player that might, or might not, enjoy how the game is designed.
That sounds to me like you didnt really explain the game to him properly. Its far from the whole game, in fact its the think you spend the least amount of time on.
If playing was leveling people would quit when they hit max level.
I think you missed the point where the game is “all leveling” to him.
He knows the game very well. Both me and his dad has played it since he was 2 and 3 years old. He is 20 now. He has also played it on our account as a child(yes, I know, against ToS), which is why he knew he wanted to level in MoP. Which you aren’t allowed to do on new accounts.
Are they? Exactly ZERO of my friends are playing Classic.
Indeed. It’s glorious not having to level.
Well, it wouldn’t hurt me personally because I already have every class at max level, and I never have to level from scratch again, but I have a lot of friends who would be very unhappy about it.
Although there are some new players joining all the time, most players have been playing for years and when they want to play as a new class, they have almost no interest in leveling.
