I really wish Blizzard would bring back Reforging! Currently on my Unholy DK and Demon Hunter (Havoc) I have over 50% mastery which is the weakest stat according to online sources to both classes and I would have loved to be able to reforge some to more ideal stats.
Apparently Blizzard’s excuse for removing the reforge feature was that it was too complicated for players to understand how to balance what stats which I think is utter nonsense. It is very clear to me that this whole game is designed around RNG to the point where you are forced to try your luck at content repeatedly as you never get what you want. Bad RNG drops increases your game play time and more revenue from subs for Blizzard.
It is a pity though as my Demon Hunter has good ilvl gear but all the wrong stats which means he does not do nearly as good damage as he should. Sometimes I wish someone would create a WOW2 with mechanics and design that favours game play and not revenue for the game developer!

Well if PvP vendors do not return in Shadowlands and we are forced to do PvE content again to gear up for PvP in Shadow then I will not be able to find my wallet to pay for subs any more!
This is more true than ever. This gearing system is locking so many items, that if you get bad stats on locked items, you’re screwed.
On my mage currently i am locked into:
Trinkets - Font + badge
Rings - Mechagon rings have effectively 3½ sockets, making them much better than anything else.
Pants - because i got bis corruption on them
waist - got good corruption
wrists - mechagon bracers are must have
Due to corruption i have essentially 4 slots where i can focus on putting the right stats in, for the rest i have to pray to RNGesus that i get my good corruption with the right stats on top, cause i am sitting with 1400 crit, which is pretty much my worst stat, just because all my corruption items have crit on them.
That’s the wrong solution. If one aspect of the game is broken, you want that fixed (like buff mastery), not add another system for the sole purpose to lessen the effect of a problem.
The problem with mastery right now is that for most specs is tied to class abilities and in this patch much of our damage comes from corruptions, essences and trinkets, which isn’t affected by mastery.
Says you! Mastery is just an example. And how mastery compare is a different topic. There was nothing wrong with reforging and I think players needs more freedom to decide themselves on what they want to do with their gear and stats. The RNG system is just horrendous.
Can’t remember how much items I just didn’t use because the stats we’re not good for me at the moment, even though they we’re 10-15 ilevel higher.
Reforging just helps you to use the gear that doesn’t quite fit in it’s original state.
The argument “it’s too hard for players to know what to do” is total BS.
Never in wow it was so unlcear what is an upgrade and what not.
How many times I had a ring that was +20 items level without socket that was just plain worse then the one I had equipped.
Those were just items in my bag to push the ilevel shown in lfg XD
What i said applies universally, for any stat or any problem. If your pet has a pathing problem and can’t reach a boss, for example, the solution isn’t to give warlocks a “teleport pet” ability, it’s to FIX THE PATHING.
As for the “freedom” to decide whatever some website tells us to do, GW2 has a system where you simply select what stat combination you want, for certain items.
For example a cloth item can drop with INT and STA and then you can choose whatever stat combination you want, much better than reforge.

No you still don’t get it. You want to fix individual stats and what they mean to any /specific class. I and some other players wants to balance those stats better. Lets say in a perfect world all stats are fine and works for a class but you happen to have a lot of crit and you already have reached your soft and hard cap for crit and can then afford to reforge some of that crit to haste.
When they removed reforging they also removed many of those caps or breakpoints, furthermore you still have enchants and gems to balance your stats.
Lastly, i already mentioned, but if you really want complete control over your stats a system like in GW2 would be much better than reforge.
