Bring back some Paladin "tricks"

Hi everyone!

I’ve been thinking about some things that I miss on my paladin lately after changes done to the class the couple of last expansions. Mainly the Blessings/Hand spells. I love how we now can use several blessings at the same time on one target (forexample blessing of protection and blessing of freedom), that’s a decent improvement. Yet, I can’t help but feel like I at the same time lost some neat Paladin support “tricks”. I used to be able to use my protection spell to remove bleed effects from the tank, and then just instantly remove protection with freedom so that he tank wouldn’t loose aggro. Or for PvP I could use it to dispel blind on my partners and then remove protection again with a freedom before the mage could spellsteal it.

I kind of miss the ability to utilise my spells like that. I feel like it would up the skillcap and increase our utiity if we had some ability to remove our blessings on a target both in PvE and PvP. I don’t want to go back to only have one blessing per target, but maybe if you use blessing of protection (even if it’s on CD) on the target that you already put it on, you could remove it from the target. Same with freedom and Sacrifice. Or just add another Blessing spell that removes any blessing on the target.

Am I weird to wish for this or are the more people that sort of miss the utility and control we used to have with this?

I just got both of my tanks to add a protection cancel aura to their taunt as it’s the button they hit instinctively when they loose agro. But I understand where you are coming from. A lot of a paladins identity has always been the crazy stuff we can do with our spells

Yea, that solves the issue of loosing aggro. But that wasn’t really my point either. I miss the skill cap and utility that it brought me as a paladin.

Forexample, in PvE I could give protection to a tank to remove a nasty physical debuff, and then remove it right away before the boss/mob went ham on anyone else. I can’t do that anymore, I can still get the tanks to remove the aura when coordinated, but that means I am dependent on coordination and other people to “fix” my spells for them to be helpfull. That doesn’t give me the option to play smart with my utility.

Same for PvP, when I played arena with a warrior, I could forexample give him protection to break a rogue stun or blind forexample and still remove it before any mage could spellsteal it and freecast, now I can’t. My partner can still use a macro to remove it after I cast it on him. But that’s not the point, I miss the option for paladins to have a bit higher skill cap and be able to do plays like this themselves, instead of beeing dependant on other people. The issue isn’t to remove protection or freedom on a target, but I miss having the option and utility it gave me to be able to do those kind of plays. It gave paladins a higher skill cap both in PvE and PvP imo and I kind of want the option back.
