Forums was way more fun with upvotes and downvotes instead of this protective bubble wrapped upvote only system

There is no bubble there is the flag button which buries the post its exactly the same system i just wish they bring back the “reason why box” so you can explain why you are flagging.

There are various studies about downvoting and it’s negative effects. It isn’t part of the standard Discourse forum options.

Remove upvoting as well.

Nope, this system is good for newcomers. If someone sees a post downvoted more than upvote then they tend to downvote more, some sheeps are unable to have their own ideas hence this system is better.

If they were to bring downvotes back, I’d want it to have like a mandatory essay part where you have to write at least a 50 word post on why you disagree with the post you’re downvoting and unconstructive downvote-posts would get you banned for 12 months.

"I have downvoted there post for several reasons

  1. they never send me whale pics anymore
    2)they have not rubbed my earlobe like ever.
    3)they are always telling me to be a good girl on the forums so im down voting to tease them.

In terms of trolling/forums being more Fun, you don’t necessarily need both, one is sufficient, upvote or downvote, but yeah, having both is ideal.

If your post got upvoted and mines didn’t, it’s equivalent to the person that upvoted your post, downvoting mines, hopefully, that makes sense.

Trolling is more rampant on forums that have systems that incentivize “Good Behaviour”
