Well it’s easy since they barely have any mobility.

Yes i approve of this . Both Systems Xbox and PS5 have raytracing and would make good use of these new features in SL. My gaming buddies are console players exclusively and because of that they play ff14 and eso. They would play wow but it’s not avaible to them.

The only game i play on PC is wow. My computer is getting old , i don’t want to spend 800 euro just play wow. I would love it to come to console so i can play on my system of pereference and with my friends.

Both PS5 and Xbox allow you to connect and mouse and keyboard aswel wirelessly so if controller isn’t a player preference it’s not a problem.

Both systems are more powerful than most players pc’s who play this game. So to say it’s a system limitations would be an ouright lie.

I doubt that this will happen .

Not seeing what’s so different about playing with a controller. I’ve played quite a many M+ runs with one. The only hard part is setting everything up, but then it’s just as efficient as keyboard + mouse (perhaps even more so, because less finger travel).

Nevertheless, WoW on console would be a nice touch, even if out of the box, it would still require you to attach a keyboard & mouse, and the controller stuff was merely a best-effort thing (ie, no console specific tutorials or the like).

Can we get it for the phone instead?

I doubt this would ever happen, mostly since they would need to downgrade the graphics to acceptable console pleb levels, that and they would need to invent a set of universal controls to start with, while still allowing people to keybind their own controls, not to mention that you could, at best 16 spells hot-keyed (assuming you use both side the triggers and bumpers to switch between spells for A, X, Y, B buttons) and use the D-pad for selecting nearest target with left and right, party members with up and down, yourself with left-stick click and jump with right stick.

Most current consoles have better hardware than what WoW recommends, so… nope.

…you can play with keyboard & mouse with a console too. Not to mention that controller support is on the PTR and on Beta, so you will no longer need an addon to make it work, either.

Err, no: 4 keys and four modifiers is not 4*4 keys, but 4^4, because you can combine modifiers. Some of the combos isn’t very convenient, but you can still easily set up 24 different bindings for AXYB (normal, left trigger, right trigger, both triggers, left bump, right bump), and you could add 4 more for both bumps.

But you don’t need to limit yourself to AXYB for actions, you can do all kinds of funky combos, you can use oPie for less often used things, and so on.

WoW is coming to the PS5. Did anyone really buy Ion’s explanation why the PS5 controller is mentioned in WoW’s code? “We added controller support for people using Xbox’s adaptive controller”. Really? You believe that.

When he was asked about raytracing in WoW’s code, Ion also said “don’t read too much into it, our engineers are just experimenting” and a few months later - raytracing in WoW.

It’s definitely coming to console.

On the console port addon, you can set up 30 spells for very quick access, 10 that are slightly harder (L1+L2+button), which you can use for more situational spells and buffs. You also have the inventory wheel, which you can set up 24 more buttons, including items, macros, skills, whatever you want, and we’re at 64 buttons now, and all of them more comfortable to use than a keyboard.

The major barrier I see for console support are addons, though. Not sure how that’d work there. (Mind you, I have nearly no clue about current consoles, so it’s very much possible there’d be an easy way to get addons to work there too.)

I know. I often play with a controller, and am very much aware of it’s capabilities and limitations.

It is more convenient than keyboard + mouse in a whole lot of cases, after the initial set up and getting used to it part… those two are a bit rough.

Yes, impresive, gotta admit that, but i cant imagine him playing meele, or mage perhaps, something that requires tons of mobility while still performing somehow good. Or some pet class where he has to manage his pet too… Or druid where he needs to swap forms, and targets for hots constantly… Once again, this is impresive, but i cant imagine it playing something else than this broken comp. Its like saying holy+destro is hard cuz u both just stand in middle hardcast your main spell, someone decent enough with that comp will most likely hit 2k+ on calculator…

I only stopped using it because… it’s hard to target totems and explosions during explosive week with it. However, back then I wasn’t using the PS4 touch pad for controlling the cursor… cuz I forgot it actually works in the addon  So I’ll probably give it another shot again soon.

While I’m at it, is there a way to set up a camera addon that causes you to lock on your target like in Dark Souls, where your camera follows it?

Hi!

I tank and heal m+ as a monk with a controller. I also healed m+ on my druid alt, with a controller. I healed random bgs, even some arenas (but I’m not good at pvp, regardless of what input device I’m using :P). I did 5-mask visions as unholy DK - with a controller.

It works better than you think.

You are still doing it on PC though. Consoles will choke during calculations.

That will be the stumbling block.

FFXIV PS4 players are addon free.

As of now it’s just shadows, no reflections so “meh”.

For short period of time WoW was on GeForce Now streaming platform but Blizzard pulled off for some reason screwing up people playing WoW “without hardware” to run it. With luck they can add it to GFN quicker than native console ports.
