Buff tanks in pvp

Tanks take 60% more damage in pvp than other specs, I am asking a big why?

Tanks generally deal far less damage than dps specs, why then make then take away the only thing they´re good at meaning soaking the damage?

I get nearly 1 shot on my tank, which is absurd as i have far more hp than anyone else plus more armor and defensive abilities.

If you ´re going to balance this out either remove that debuf or make dps specs deal 60% less damage in pvp

It’s fine how it is, otherwise you have unkillable tanks just soaking infinite damage.

As to the “almost one shot”. Context is needed. Likely you tried to facetank the enemy team with no CD’s up and were shocked you almost died?

No, arcane shot dealt 1/3 of my hp. That speaks for itself. Arcane blast deal over 1/2 of my health.

I’m not great at maths, but if it deals 1/3 of your health, that would be a 3 shot?

I don’t think balance should be done based on examples of hyperbole.

I call it a 1 shot, as quickly as it is. Arcane shot has no cooldown, and dead in 2 secs.

I’d prefer if they just didn’t let tanks queue for arena period. They’re either useless since to the small damage they do coupled with their damage taken increase, or they’re straight-up unkillable thanks to their defensive cooldowns. Tanks never lead to a fun rated arena experience. There’s place for tanks in rated battlegrounds for things like holding down objectives, but it’s different in arena where your objective is to kill the enemy team.

Tanks that have seen arena meta play often made their partners unkillable too, like prot pala with their off healing + extra defensives. Or, you had BfA guardian druid that passively made the melee they rushed you down with pretty much immortal while also providing decent pressure and not being a viable kill target themselves.

There also have been cases of tank + healer + dps comps stalling games out to ridiculous levels, which were essentially the same as double healer. Double healer is not allowed to queue arenas anymore for a good reason. Tanks should be the same. Whenever tank playstyles come up, you can easily see that none of this was ever intended.

60% is far, far to high. Being a tank is just in pvp is just bad now, it serves nothing. Atleast make it so you take 20% more damage, or take less healing. But i am still against the idea, as it just messes up the specs that have tank and forces the player to play a certain spec.

The damage taken increase used to be smaller. It often made tanks overpowered and unfun to face. They increased it for a reason. Trust me.

That’s how it is with arena tanks. They’re either worthless, stall out games for no reason with defensives and no win condition, or something makes them beyond busted and they have nearly the damage of a DPS with survival of a tank and usually some defensive for their teammates. Tanks cannot be balanced for arena. That’s why I’m suggesting they should be unable to queue and tank spec players should just respec for arena. It’s a role that fundamentally goes against the gameplay of arena.

You could fix this, by the longer the fight progresses, the more damage you take or both heals less. Similiar when you’re holding the warsong gulch flag.

Or powerups that show up if the fight lasts long that you can pick up, that can quickly turn the tables.

The third option is to have a timer, if none won there is a tie.

Btw, do you know if this is the case for world pvp aswell? That tanks take more damage. If so i will cry my eyes out.

Dampening which reduces healing taken as the game goes on is already a thing. But even with that, tank+healer+dps in 3v3s is able to stale more than anything else if the tank spec is strong enough to do that. They specifically banned double heal in arena for a reason. This same reasoning should be applied to tanks.

No idea, I haven’t world-pvped for a while. Roleplay realm warmode is usually very Alliance-sided.

Well, I had a feeling this last two weeks that for some reason I was just obliterated any time I tried to engage in World PvP.

I thought it was just me who became very bad at the game after a year and half break but that would explain a lot.

Usual Blizzard attempt at making anything but dps specs a pain to play for absurde reasons.

I miss that (whatever it was called) mechanic that made tanks do more dmg the more dmg they took.
It was fun. Overtuned but fun. ^^

This. It’s not like if you don’t go tank you have no other spec to play.

Also tank/healer dpsing is easier than on a dps spec, you don’t have many dps spells, it’s like a moba and while you could counter that argument with dps specs that are less intricate, I’d say it’s still not the same plus you have a ton of survivability spells on top of that (non) rotational easiness. Imo. I don’t think tweaking numbers can make up for that.

Why should we literally be the only players in the game to have the spec they want to play not allowed to enter a game mode?

I don’t care if I have “other specs to play”, I’d rather delet my Warrior than touch Fury and Arm.

I’ve already expressed my personal opinion in the comment you took the quoted part from. I don’t think tanks have a place in competitive arena. It always ended up being fun only for tanks while they’re very low effort in pvp at the same time.

Yea, i rolled prot aswell because i like the rotation and feel to it, more than arms and fury. Remember when we had gladiator stance?
