BUG Hunter pets not attacking as intended

I have no idea if this is the right place to post this, but i cant for the love of god find the support/bug sub forum on EU.Blizzard.

Since leveling my hunter ive noticed there is some pretty game breaking bugs regarding the hunter pets.
For instance, if you want to pull a single mob out of the aggro zones to other mobs, you would range attack them, and once its safe you’ll send in the pet to pick up aggro. This is horrible in the current state, as when you send in the pet, it will stand literally a few yards in front of you to wait for the aggroed mob to approach the pet, causing you, the player to have to run away to make distance. You lose uptime on damage and it just makes every encounter take longer, and it being extremely clunky.
The fun with hunter is the ability to have high uptime, being mobile and having a engaging encounter. This bug completely ruins this. This does not happen however when charge is up, as far as i can tell.

Another issue. Lets say you pull aggro from a mob the pet is attacking. When you pull the aggro, the pet is constantly trying to catch up with the mob, and trying to get infront of it, instead of just attacking from any angle possible. This also causes lots of downtime and clunkyness that ruins the fun. Pets, even after specd for mobility and movement speed, feels slow and sluggish.

These issues were first noticed during the early or mid release of SoM classic, and i suspect its related to the retail model being used in classic, as the only reports ive seen on the issue is from retail, and timeframe fits for the issue to occur in both SoM and Retail looking at forum posts. However the issue is much worse in Wrath than it was in my time playing SoM.

The other issue with the pets are the defensive ‘‘stance’’. The pet will not listen to commands during defensive stance AT ALL. If it engages a mob in defensive it will not move at all when being called back. You can mass click for a few seconds and the pet will move a few yard and just stop until you stop clicking, just for it to go back to attacking the mob again.
Also, if you target a mob, send in the pet, but before it manages to engage said mob you change your mind and send it on another mob, it will automatically engage the first mob after finishing the mob you actually wanted to engage. So there is some memory issue with the pet, where it will remember previous non aggroed mobs as ‘‘hostile’’ and engage them without being told so.

Im sure ive missed some other issues aswell, but these two are the ones that spring to mind atm. The game over all is full of minor bugs, that isnt really game breaking as encountered one at a time, but once in awhile they all add up and it brings some frustration and joy out of playing.

I noticed that DK’s pets were hotfixed in mid Feb, and the issues described there seems to be very similar to the issues hunter pets are having aswell.

I have no idea how this issue isnt even posted yet on the forums, but i suspect it might be overlooked by most players because they already had high level hunters with dash for instance, or are already set up with macros that limits the bugs to appear. Or its simply not enough hunters to really bring up the issue.

TLDR:
Hunter pets waiting for pulled mobs to approach them before attacking, aka, not approaching pulled mobs.
Hunter pets attacks previously targeted mobs.

  • You send pet towards one target.
  • Before engaging its commanded to attack another target instead.
  • Pet attacks new target, and kills it.
  • Starts moving towards the first non engaged target.
Hunter pets not listening to commands during defensive ‘‘stance’’. Will be stuck in engaging enemies. Possible solution to this is just running a macro with Follow/passive Attack/defensive etc, but still annoying as there is times you want the pet to be in defensive, but still not have this behavior.
Overall pets seems sluggish and clunky in engaging playstyles.

These issues were not there in Classic, but appeared during SoM and became worse in Wrath.

If anyone else noticed these bugs, or not, please post in the thread so we can get some focus on this. And if you didnt notice it yet, im sorry if you will now.
Cheers
