Bug with Fyrakk the Blazing - no loot

Kinda frustrating bug with Fyrakk the Blazing:

I tried this raid for the first time last week in LFR. I was unfamiliar with the flight mechanic with the red feathers, so I used my regular Dragonriding mount to get to the portal. I fell, died, and the raid started without me, so my corpse was on the platform of the previous boss, where it was placed after falling, for the entire duration of the fight as I listened to it occur.

The raid defeated Fyrakk, after which I respawned. Fyrakk had no loot, and I could not roll for anything. This would not have been an issue had I not also been given kill credit despite not participating in the fight. I am now locked out of doing this boss again for the week with nothing to show for it. Nothing went to my ingame mail.

So I submitted a Support ticket. Apparently, they can’t tell that I was dead for the whole fight, but I generated no threat. They won’t do anything to reset my lockout for this encounter.

This has to be a bug if I wasn’t even in the boss arena and was pushing up daises on the platform of the previous boss for the entire encounter.

After taking a look at your gameplay session around the time you ran this raid, I was able to verify Fyrakk’s defeat, the loot drop and also that you did not receive any loot from the kill. This being said, I would like to let you know that I was unable to find any data of your character being dead during the boss battle and that I do see here that you’re part of the Tap list for the kill, meaning that you were considered as a part of the battle.

If your ingame telemetry can’t tell that I was dead, and I didn’t get any loot because I’m not on the threat list (due to being six feet under and all that), and the game thinks I’m part of the battle even if I’m not actually there, seems like a bug to me?

Hi there Baavet,

While I can certainly understand your frustration and disappointment, this would be considered working correctly and in order to qualify for loot you need to participate in the encounter to some extent.

The same isn’t true for the loot lockout though, where simply being in the instance at the start of the fight will leave you saved.

You can read more about how this works in the support articles here:

As unfortunate as it is when it happens in situations like the one you describe, these mechanics are necessary in order to avoid some less well-intentioned behaviors.

Best of luck in the future, and I hope you can still get some of the upgrades you were hoping for in another run, Baavet!

Participating in the encounter to be eligible for loot I get, obviously. But being so far away from the boss when they died that I couldn’t possibly have contributed to the kill should mean no loot and no lockout. In the instance at all can cover a loooot of distance and LFR people are just looking to wrap up ASAP, they won’t always wait for dead people or people who are running to the fight, you know? Just my feedback that IMO there’s a better solution than the current, it’s surely not either this or people stand around doing nothing for free lewts.

Though it doesn’t help you or me one bit, know that you’re not alone. This happened to me two weeks in a row now. I came back to WoW after 2 years and this mechanic was quite new to me. Sadly nobody is willing to explain and/or help. Suddenly everyone is gone and you have no clue where to go to, the fight starts and you’re locked out without loot.
