So I have been googling alot and been searching on the forums if there is any build planner for WoW. I see many people talk about addons to optimize your gear or sites that tell you what is the best in slot item. But I was wondering if there is any site or build planner in which I can simply search and choose gear that I would like to use and then after selecting all the gear for all the slots, see the stats that this gear would give me and how much damage my abilities would do etc…
I know that there are such build planners for other games (like the eusp build planner for ESO) but I haven’t seen anything like that for WoW. Does it not exist? And if it does where can I find it? The calulcators and build planners on WoWhead etc aren’t what I am looking for, and I don’t want a site or addon that tells me what the best gear is for my class/spec. The goal is to be able to make builds that aren’t good in general but crazy good in one thing only. For example a build for a tank spec that focusses on dealing damage and high self heals instead of overall damage reduction etc. I really want to select gear, see stats, see damage numbers of spells so that I can test out creating different builds and see what would suit my needs.
There isn’t really much in the way of testing a build from scratch. You can use Raidbots though to swap pieces of gear in and out from your currently equipped, also yeah, there’s a new droptimizer feature that allows you to see what the best gear is from the current raid.
I know about those kind of addons and websites but that is the opposite of what I am looking for.I don’t want any sites telling me: “oh you are that class and that spec? well then this is the best gear there is for you.”
I want to be able to search and select gear to make my own build that isn’t the meta but is good at one thing. Take for example a prot pally. All websites and optimizers will tell you what good tanking gear there is. But I want to be able to make my own build. A prot pally that isn’t focussing on tanking but focusses on doing damage by stacking strength and versatality for example. So I am looking for a builder that really allows me to pick gear and then give me an overview of the stats that that build would give me and how much damage my spells would do.
I want to try out new stuff in WoW instead of always going for the meta. So a builder like UESP for ESO is sort of what I am looking for but for WoW offcourse (you can google that builder to see what it looks like).
If you’re looking to play a DPS role with a one hander and shield that’s not really a thing in WoW like in ESO unfortunately ;( Maybe back in MoP when tanks had vengeance but now they’re only used to survive and hold aggro. Sole purpose of a tank in WoW. Also if you still wanted to do as much dps as possible as a tank anything like raidbots wouldn’t work for tanks as it’s not supported anyway. You’d need to read up on what stats actually give you the biggest damage increase, like for blood DK it’s pretty much haste/crit I think. You can check how much your spells do then with in game testing and an addon like details.

It’s fine I guess I will just have to look on WoWhead for items with stats I want and see if it actually works in the game the way I want it to.
I hope that someone will make such a build planner one day. could be very usefull, especially now with Azerite gear which gives players more freedom to make lots of crazy builds.
