The area you have a the house in, is a huge part of the feature though. From an RP perspective, there is no way my Aylish can call anything placed in Elwynn, Duskwood or Westfall, home. I really never had any connection with those zones, so I am… sorry, again, Super DISAPOINTED.
Locations yes, but building styles is another matter I think.
The gamut of decor options spans not just the cultures of Azeroth but the many expansions of World of Warcraft as well.
Not sure if that’s also true for house options, but…
Anyway… More will come in time.
The big problem I have with their vision is that they want to make it social.
I don’t want anything to do with other players when it comes to housing.
And then there’s the building itself. I don’t like building.
I want to decorate. So I hope there’s some good pre-fab options available.
Well there is also marriages suggested and I already saw the disputes it creates with shared housing and all after the likely outcome at some point and then decide who pays the rest of the house mortage and gets to stay live there etc
Im not happy to say that I called it to become garrisons, I also considered that it will do more harm on the mmo aspect of the game but its whatever now, their head is notoriously difficult to turn once its set
It’s NOT garrisons. At all.
Stop spreading disinformation.
It is similar to garrison. People didnt like garrisons.
From what I understand, it’s a new system marketed as “player creativity and social engagement,” with monetization likely creeping in over time. Which is fine, so long as it’s fun and not driven by FOMO.
Have you even read the article? Go read it.
“We decided early on that there would be two Housing zones available at launch, one for Alliance and one for Horde, with more possible places to live in the future. The Alliance zone takes inspiration from Elwynn Forest with touches of Westfall and Duskwood, and the Horde’s is inspired by Durotar, its coastline, and Azshara. There are two main reasons for this decision”
So those two zones will be brand new zones, and not revamps of existing ones?

The locations are split Horde and Alliance, this is garrison’s all over.
Hey tah, I know you wanted instanced housing and prefered this type thing but its not what people who hated garrisons wished. This is very similar to garrisons. We are not even getting options related the houses. This is as far from the concept of player housing what people had.

and it seems they did.
… You definitely didn’t even read it.
- Deeply Social: World of Warcraft is more fun with other players, and Housing should be no different. While players can enjoy housing purely on their own, its systems are designed at a fundamental level to encourage interacting, playing, and progressing with friends, neighbors, guilds, and the wider community in a meaningful way.

Which is fine
From an entirely selfish and completely egoistic point of view (and I do pay money for my own enjoyment), I think it’s a terrible waste of development resources.
There are a lot of things I would rather have those developers work on than Housing.
So fine for other people I guess, but I personally remain unconvinced.

… You definitely didn’t even read it.
Well you didnt read others either. I know you wished instanced housing, not everyone share the sentiment. Can you try not turn this into a debate or addressing people with some tone.
Please… PLEASE give us bookshelf where we can keep our books, letters and the hundreds of “Right Click to Read” items. (Yes, i’m a collector)

What is it for?
I didn’t get an answer to that.
Yeah we did.
Boundless Self-Expression
Basically it’s transmog, but for a house.

Right.
I have my LEGO bricks for that.
But again, to each his own.
I do hope there’ll be something more to it. Some reason to go there. Something to do there.
They do mention the word “progress”, but in what context?
Early development, yada yada, we’ll see how it turns out.

No it isn’t. A neighbourhood with other people in it, is not the same at all as garrisons. I don’t understand how you can even think that.

We are not even getting options related the houses.
What do you mean?
They said: “Our highest priority is to allow players to build a house that shows off their own personal tastes or their Warband”
How can you do that without choices? Of couse there will be many options.
This was just a small preview. Not a complete overview of the whole system.
If you expected open world building, you were delusional. Sorry.
That was NEVER going to happen. This is a middle-ground. A dedicated zone to build in.

From the wording in the article, it seems like this will be highly optional. Its an extra side thing for those that wants it, but you can also completely ignore it.
I love decorating houses, i can spend so many hours building and decorating in other games so this will probably be something that will drag me more into the game. I can see how its not for everyone though.
What would you like to see added as a new feature in wow?
Now THIS I am excited for! Oh so much collecting to do. Oh please be a furniture profession.
Avoiding public neighbourhoods like the plague but private ones are a saving grace.
I figured it would be very basic to begin with and that’s fine, they have to find their feet. Happy they are giving everyone a house without stupid rent/lottery etc. Happy warband can use it.
Shop bought items for house hmmm bye wallet. Bet I still spend less than I do on ESO though.
I’m so disappointed to see that yet again the choices are basically orc or human. I was hoping we would get a set of choices that would fit the different races of each faction, that we would get housing that was tied to the theme of the next expansion and then each new expansion would come with it’s own housing plot, like TESO does it.
The neighborhoods are an interesting idea, but they are not worth being tied to only two aesthetic options. I would much prefer to have only a solo instance and have more options to fit more races.

Watch them put Blood Elf building styles on the shop exclusively.
