Burning Crusade Classic Same-faction Battlegrounds

Blizzard didn’t even tried to solve faction balance, their goal was holding Horde PvPers and boost rerollers in game despite overpopulation BG queue problem they created for themselves.

Instead of making

  • mirrored racials
  • faction change on disbalanced realms
  • optional Merc mode for BGs, when both factions players are gathered into unified pool and them distributed among teams, like in all competitive PvP games

Blizzard took most cheap, and disbalancing “solution” that will ruin Alliance PvPers and finish formation of mono faction pseudo PvP realms by the end of TBCC.

And how will it solve problem of AFKrs and low winrate on BGs when more competitive PvP players will move to the Horde side, because all the advantages are there?

What about the loot boxes from the BG?

After implementing the feature of -same-faction-servers-, same faction BG was inevitable, Q3 numbers need hell of a boosting

Can we have a function to turn-off same faction BG? I’ll better wait another 20 min to face alliance, instead of wearing gnome mask.

You really just suck.
There is a huge problem of imbalance, but rather than taking steps to fix it, you simply camouflage it and let the core root rot, while ruining the feel of the game.
You’re just a disgrace.

Typical Blizzard band-aid fix

I’m happy for all the horde players that get to enjoy bgs faster now

But did they stop to think WHY their queues were so long?

Are alliance PVE babies? Maybe
Are horde pvp racials better than alliance? Maybe

Or maybe it’s simply because pvp players just want to play where there are more like minded people

It’s as simple as that and now the imbalance will only grow

Every TBC private server that has ever existed was eventually forced to take measures to preserve faction balance. Be it extra XP and gold for Alliance players, fancy mounts, or reserving 50% of server capacity for Alliance so Horde had to wait if they wanted to play, if left to their own devices the playerbase will be always overwhelmingly Horde.

And as retail has shown us, once a faction becomes dominant, it snowballs.

So Blizzard, in their infinite wisdom decided doing nothing was the best play, until I assume the sub loss and forum rage was so much they couldn’t ignore it anymore.

And Blizzard’s incredible idea, from a company who’s mission statement is “Dedicated to creating the most epic entertainment experiences ever”? Shove you in the opposite faction’s base with a crappy mask and a tabard. So EPIC.

Such nuanced and intelligent game design that really fixes the core of the problem!

Why are you incentivizing the dominant faction? Check any PVP server in Europe, they are ALL Horde dominated. Why does one faction get to enjoy the benefits of having the most numbers (farming safely in the open world, always winning the world pvp events, bigger pool of players to recruit from) without any of the drawbacks?

And more importantly, how can you feel this is good for the long term health of the game?

I totally agree on that, they did nothing because they had many millions of subs, if they had done more to balance servers when faction imbalance started this might never have happened, and they should have fixed premade bg’s back then too, all premade bg’s did to casuals was making them stop playing bg’s with the remaining casuals meet premades even more often since less casuals play bg’s cause of premades…

Same i said roughly 12 years ago.

You want to abandon your OP dwarf racials? That certainly wont bring you those 2k shoulders my lad.

Awesome! That with rep gear I might actually start playing BGs and arena a bit.

It gives +10% armor on top of immunity to bleed, disease and poison. It’s not nothing. Inner fire armor + improved inner fire + an additional 10% of all of that on top.

No, because i am not quitting you dumb zug

Regarding the premade cap:

Why remove such a deep in-game concept? This “concept” is to unite and bring players together - isn’t that what an MMORPG is all about?
In what world is playing together in a raid so negative that you need to remove it from the game?

I remember your reason for implementing the in-game level 58 boost which was “Let your friends catch up with you to journey together throughout The Burning Crusade”.
And now you just decided to remove one of the biggest values… To play together.
I really do hope you can find a better solution to this in near future.

Thank you very much!

Agreed, they could have added something that makes premades queue into other premades. Match people who queued up in size X with other queus that group up in size X.
Could try find a match immediately, if that fails go for X-1 and so on. Simple solution.

You mean a literal like change of giving Alliance paladins a Blood Elf, Read: Horde only ability?
:upside_down_face:
Or, again, does that not count because it benefits only the Alliance?

Good change, finally able to queue with friends and guildmates because of instant queues. I hope you fix honor gain as next step because the honor now is not like it used to be.

Would like to have more communication from devs too but same faction bgs before season 2 start is a great timing. Many player will now have some time to catch up. Really want to habv PvP to be great and high participation.

Remove rating requirements please for season 2 and arena teams start at 1500 like it was in tbc original!
It seems like mmr does not start at 1500 when you do your first matches. That is a problem because the arenapoint system is based on a start rating of 1500
