What are the best burst classes in Wrath? I like their playstyle and I want to roll one, but I am not really sure what is the situation in this expansion. Considering the commitment of leveling, I want to try to get it right the first time.

Rogue is a good example for me, but this is as far as my knowledge of burst classes goes. I would particularly like to hear about ranged classes, such as mage and warlock. I know there is a huge variation when gear/stats are accounted for, and I am less interested in classes that get their bursty style only at the end of the expansion.

Are you referring to PvP? Eleshaman and destro lock are probably the most known burst classes which can pretty much kill people in one global. Rogue does good burst during shadow dance windows as well, but its not as fast in terms of globals as you need to press ambush a few times.

I do not particularly care what the target is, whether it is in the context of PvP or PvE, if the damage is mitigated, if it is entirely dependent on long cooldowns or lucky procs, if it needs build-up, etc. All I personally care about is what are the classes that can output a lot of damage in as short period of time as possible.

Check youtube, there are a few nice “burst clips”
Easier to determine for PVE because in PVP you won’t always have the perfect settings for a nice burst setup.

If you find a nice bursty class/spec, update in the thread pls!

So you just want to do a load of damage in the shortest time?

If one class was like that everyone would play it, so most need you to build up.

Ranged : Ele shammy, destro lock
Melee : rogue, retri

all others, I would say, need a bit ramp up and preparation.

Later, when armor pene goes up, warriors and especialy feral druids become bonkers.

But my memory can be shaded with rose tinted glasses. :]

Would just like to add prot paladin and prot warrior to this list, unironically. It does require a bunch of cooldowns to burst, but when they do it’s lethal.

I remember prot paladins were beasts when they had spell power bonus from stamina and were very tedious to play against in arenas.
I do not remember prot warriors in PvP at all, maybe the memories are that bad I displaced them over time :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

It is PTR pre-patch right ? 70 lvl and wotlk talents. I would have to say that it is not the best example to show :confused: Pyjama target w/o soul link and gnome … on the other side warr with berserk, still, damn hell, what a shield slam :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

Yeah it’s prepatch and level 70.

But damage for tanks doesn’t exactly go down at level 80 :stuck_out_tongue:
