Bursting Sores vs Ebon Fever (M+)

This is for mythic + only, yesterday I forgot to change my talents and played with Ebon fever instead, and I did more damage, single target it makes sense, but AoE was also higher, I peaked at 100/110k dps on some AoE pulls,
either it was just luck or something, or Ebon Fever is better for M+?
Everywhere I look they recommend Bursting Sores for M+ so I was just wondering if this is actually right?

Sores are much better. Its hard to master them.

Bursting Sores deals a lot more damage overall in M+, but only if you also take Infected Claws (and preferably Grip of the Dead).

The idea is that you spread wounds with the pet’s AoE claw attack during Dark Transformation and then pop them all at the same time with Death and Decay.

Basically you do this:

  1. Virulent Plague
  2. Festering Strike on various targets until mobs are grouped up and tank has aggro
  3. Dark Transformation
  4. Unholy Frenzy (gives pet haste for more wounds)
  5. One or two more Festering Strikes if the pack is still healthy (>80% hp)
  6. Death & Decay and pop trinkets
  7. Spam Scourge Strike

The longer you delay the Death and Decay, the more damage you will do, but obviously if you wait too long the mobs will die early and waste your potential.

But at point 4 the mobs are already dead.

If it’s a low key then it doesn’t really matter so much, could just pick whatever talents I suppose.

at keys higher than 11 mobs will not be dead by point 4 especially on fortified weeks
