But how mage tower as a priest?

ive been figuring out what to do sitting through inanely boring tutorial videos from people doing both the disc and shadow variants of the mage tower but it seems to be actually impossible to do it at the moment?

in shadow i dont deal nearly enough damage i can only just barely wear the main boss down to 60-70% hp by the time for the final phase, maybe 50% if im lucky but that dosent leave me anywhere near enough time to kill him before the runner gets fast enough to kill me for sure.
trying to do the disipline version is no better as the amount of on point split secund healing i need to do makes it basacly impossible for a non botting human, the boss after i fearinterrupt him and the worm while hes casting fel blast, just runs up to me and twoshoots me with regular attacks it looks like.

so how the hell am i actually supposed to be able to beat this thing? or is it just so overtuned that there is currently basacly no way to do it?

Get gear with bis stats, trinkets, (some legendarys works such as the staff)
Get the gear with embellishments, use consumables with drums.
MT is not meant to be easy.

Inb4: “Oh but I did it in legiooooon! It was way harder then”

theres “not easy” and then theres “borderline impossible”
which staff specificly, the artifact? i got enchantments on the rest of my gear only thing i dont bring is drums

Just wait until some spec of priest is broken or get a good set. That was my strat and I got the book mount quite easily now

ergh, thats disheartening, i already got a good set and i wanna get the hood specificly for my mog, having to wait until whos know when because i dont have the numbers to be able to do what the tacts demand feels really cancerous

DF challanges are way easier to do because of talent tree
we could say mage tower was overtuned for poeple in Shadowlands
but if you say that DF mage tower is overtuned you memeing hard here
check some gearing guide and strategy guide and you gonna have easy time with it.

For the disc challenge, what talents are you taking? You need to have pain supression and rapture up when you cant use phychic scream. I used mind bender and had raspody for big holy novas.

Holy

Shadow Priest

Disc Priest

All updated for current patch with gear. tips and vids of how to do things.

I would say

Disc>Holy>Shadow in that order for how difficult they are. (personal view only)

I did shadow last season and killed him before he reached the final phase (before you kill the brother for good). Use the single target fear talent on the one chasing you (pref make a target macro for him), try to kite the small adds in a way so you can get them all with 1 shadow crash (this will take time to master). Focus on dps-ing the main guy (unless hand spawns, then VT+plague+SW death should be enought to kill it), everything else should die to your spirits. Also the first time he is targetable use every consumable you can get (drums, potions etc) this is the best time to burn him due to no mechanics.

Also get haste+mastery blue gear from the AH or the socket items from SoO. I think the Legion pre-pots were the supperior option for combat potions, BfA flasks and boralus sausage for food. Another thing that helped me was speed enchants.

Pretty important

Isn’t tier disabled in mage tower? New version anyway

I know legacey tier was not sure on current i will report back shortly.

Edit current tier works in there.

if you are just goin for the mount, a much easier option for the Twins is MM hunter. a complete joke of a challenge. Also looking at the disc challenge it seems much easier to manage compared to doin it as a dps.

The shadow one is fairly easy, you just need to properly funnel damage into the main target, the adds will die from cleave.

The cirkle that you gotta soak will spawn in a set location so keep it clear for when it spawns so you can soak it.

I admit I haven’t taken much of a look at it for a while and the spec has changed several times since then but I’ll see what it’s like now and report back.

Gear and talents are what it shows on armoury, zero consumables used. If you need better gear to make for a lack of experience on the spec then go ahead, but know it’s nowhere near necessary.

P1: Kite Karam around and just build up resources, he phases at 33% so just make sure you have full insanity and don’t use any cds too early. You can voidform when he’s at like 38% just to get the gcd out of the way when Raest spawns.

P2: Pop the rest of your cds and nuke Raest, ignore everything else and just focus on getting a clean set of cds out. Move on instants to keep distance from adds and just try not to be inefficient. I got him down to 57% but anywhere in the 70% range is good enough.

P3: Kite Karam around in a large triangle of straight lines, try not to run in circles because raest will always cut the corner on you and gain ground. Use your CC when he gets close and run through / away from him in a straight line each time. Focus down the hands as they spawn, they should be pretty easy to kill without getting a cast off but you can silence / disperse the cast if need be.

Once Karam hits 33% again, P4 will start.

P4 is a short burn on raest, nuke him down as much as you can try to kite all the adds that spawn towards the back of the room to give yourself a clean area to run into to soak the rune. The rune will spawn in one of three places towards the middle / front of the room so the more adds you get to the back the safer you’ll be soaking.

P5 is Karam, Raest, Runes, Hands, and adds. Ignore Karam and adds completely and just kite / cc them when needed. Nuke raest and swap to hands as they spawn, being wary to keep adds kited to the back of the room outside of rune soak locations. Once Raest is around 20% health you can ignore every hand that spawns from then on and either silence, disperse, or desperate prayer their casts while you finish off the fight.

Overall the fight is a lot easier than it was when the mage tower was first reintroduced in Shadowlands, but it’s a bit harder than it was at the start of 10.1.

This is the most important piece of information. After testing a few abilities & combinations (I have 36/36 FOS btw), it’s crucial you pump P2 as much as you can. Last phase is too hectic, and you will mostly move, apart from the first 3-4 seconds of the phase. In P2, you can stand still pretty much most of the time, which means extra dps. If you manage to squeeze dps, you can reach 50-55% levels, which is a victory pretty much.
