What things that are fun, convenient or players worked hard for are you going to remove next Blizzard?
I’m sick of this magic trick game design. Here you have something cool (or something that people never asked for), but we will take this other thing you find fun or worked hard for.
That makes me feel greaeeeeat. Blizzard, do you even understand basic human psychology? Or is this intentional?
Does anyone know if I need a certain amount of reputation with Anglers to buy the shoes for my alts? I got my Strider from Nat Pagle in my Wod Garrison. Or will he also sell the shoes?
Else I kind of have to grind the Anglers rep…

I never bothered to grind the reputation for the water strider, but I think how the Blizzard should just keep it working like it used before without any changes to it.
…No? What makes you think that? You can’t even mount those mounts above water anyway but even then anything that walks on water can dive simply by holding rmb, moving your mouse up and moving forward.
Unless I’m missing something I really don’t understand why people are so up in arms. I didn’t like using the water strider all the time. Glad to take some of my favourite mounts out and still being able to walk on water.
Guess what? they could have said: “The shredders and striders will remain the same, they will both not benefit from the equipement slots. But if you don’t want to use the strider for water walking or don’t wanna fish for it (Nat Pagle rep can’t be bought!) you can use the equipment. The people who have the strider can use it as their water walking mount if they so wish to and use anti-daze or the parachute for the others.”
There was a reason fishing the last expansion had some good reward, it’s boring. 2 striders and utility legendary fishing rod, what’s next? A buff that will replace the legendary fishing rod and now everybody can turn into a fish or stand on water while fishing? Without grinding out the legendary rod? Oke you have 2 toys to fish while standing on water as 2 toys, but faster water travel (as a tiny fish) is only available for the ones with legendary rod or the trinket from the fishing contest. So next plan is to make this universal? No, all we want is for the strider to remain as it’s and get the shredder treatment so we have aleast something to show off. I can tell you fishing up so many rare fish wasn’t fun, it was far from it. I forced myself because the reward was worth it. My fishing is still at 2, the only skill point came from a quest this expansion. That’s how much I enjoy this.
This is what I’m sick of, removing stuff or invalidating effort people made. I love the brawler’s guild but to keep everybody even the NPCs constantly forget I’m a previous 3 times champ (even had a rank 10 on a char in season 1!) and not only progress gets reset but everything. It’s getting annoying. Very annoying. Same way the story is written, from one the heroes who fought Argus to a simple peasant in the army. Don’t need to be a general but atleast acknowledge what I did and don’t put me at the lowest rank, especially Genn (Stormheim).

ANYONE who keeps saying just make equipment not work on Water Striders displays a lack of ciritical thinking. Allow me to demonstrate.
The one mount this rule is currently gonna be applied to will offer something the mount equipment cannot, and give an additional 4th choice. It is completely understandable why they kept it.
On the other hand Waterstriders would offer the exact same effect as one of the Mount Equipments. Therefore the ideal set up would always be to have Waterstriders on your bars for crossing water and any other mount for, lets be honest here, always the anti daze equipment. This would not change the current situation at all and only strengthen the monopoly Striders have on Water Walking.
To put it simply, the Water Strider keeping it’s ability would literally REMOVE CHOICE from the new system, which I have heard people here hate(though many do not seem to understand what it means, accusing being unable to select being locked into a single mount to Water Walk a removal of choice)
Honestly anyone making the suggestion instantly disqualifies them to even argue about the matter because it shows complete ignorance about competing systems.
So people who went the extra mile (remember Nat Pagle rep is a heavy grind which can’t be cheapend in any way with TW badges) just did it all for nothing. Great, from now on I won’t. If they just make all the stuff you have to the extra mile universal just don’t do anything. You will get it later for 0 investments. The grind is still there, get your rod and fish all those rare catches, over and over again. I did it and I hate fishing and only do it for rewards (hence why my fishing skill is either 1 or 2 with a quest this expansion on all chars).
No, strider gets the golem/shredder treatment and if you have the strider and want to use a different mount for water walking use said equipment to make it happen. Everybody who didn’t farm Nat Pagle rep have to pick between 3 or 2 (DK for path or tanks who can’t get dazed anyhow) choices.
This and I would count a 2+ seater (Sandstone Drake, only one I think I know) or the vendor mounts as a special skill aswell. Only basic swimming (turle most well known versions), ground and flying mounts with nothing special get the equipment slot. Hopefully they listen and allow the strider to be treated like the 2 golems/shredders.
Anglers is a joke now. Meanwhile the WoD version while a chore is literally sitting in a spot fishing for hours. It is one of the least timegated mindnumbingly easy farms you can literally do while watching a few movies. It’s no more difficult than any other rep mount, far easier than many locked behind dailies only for Rep, none of which had any special effects ever.
You also benefited for YEARS from having the mount(unless as previously discussed you did Anglers when it became a joke) and benefited from it, you got what you paid for. And now it is being replaced by a system that is superior to it in EVERY WAY, except you are throwing a hissyfit that you won’t get an even specialer treatment for having the mount than a free mount equipment on every character and a lifetime of discount on buying more if you want to ever switch them around.
Also you failed to at all adress any of my points, and brought up one of the worst arguments of all time, why buy a car if in 5 years you will get a free one? MAYBE BECAUSE YOU WANT TO USE A CAR FOR THOSE 5 YEARS? If you truly think waiting for this free item instead of farming rep would have been better, then calculate how many times you mounted up to cross water over those years, buy a waterwalking potion for each instance then come and tell me if you’d rather have WAITED all those years for the mount equipment you’d not get for free and not have a discount on.

Will it be like gems and follower equipment? I mean when u change waterwalking for anti-daze the waterwalking gets destroyed, so u pay 5000 gold to get another waterwalking equipment? If so, then it’s a bad change.

How do you not understand the simple concept that when a system exists where you can choose between options 1 2 and 3, while another system exists that gives you 3 independent from the other choice, NO ONE WILL PICK ANYTHING BUT 1 OR 2.
Water Strider remaining would make the option to give other mounts Water Walking pointless, when you’d obviously choose to use the Water Strider for WW and whatever else for Daze. Ergo everyone would still be pushed to use the Water Strider for the exact same reasons as before this change.
Yes everyone who DOESN’T own the Water Strider gets the benefit of not needing it and using whatever mount. BUT the people currently forced into using the Water Strider, you know, OWN IT ALREADY. The people currently using it and representing the most used seen everywhere ground only mount will continue do so because that’d be beneficial in the system.
Here is the thing you don’t lose ANYTHING from this change, if you want waterwalking on the strider you will get it for free and as a bonus use it on everything else. But somehow you feel like you are losing something because your Water Strider (and all other mounts) can now trade their Water Walking ability for 2 others. All the previous use cases remain and you gain new ones you did not have before.
In the end all this is about is people trying to bargain for even more benefits and pretending they are losing any when they are gaining the choice to trade their current benefits for others and back.
You don’t see us a problem with giving all people acces to water walking but how they said to all people who grinded Nat Pagle “SCREW YOU!”. you would still gain even if you don’t have a strider (or a DK or shaman), but you gotta choose between daze or water walking. Easy choice, water walking. Anti-daze can be bought.

I hate the golem, I opted to use this and using the stirrups to herb from a different mount. But a water strider is something that fits it. This new system and you have to acknowledge that, the only thing it does is reward people who didn’t bother to get the strider and the ones who did gain nothing. Just make the striders an exemption or also remove the herbing from shredders/golems. I would buy the item that gives all my herbalist and miners a permament mine/herb items buff to my mounts. I agree with this how stupid Bliz is handeling this:
All you people jump on seeing striders but i bet it’s just because Bliz used it as example, well then in my opinion I see way too many ugly shredders/golems. I’m also sick of people mounting the new saber mounts of Darkshore. Bliz plz punish them, oh wait… I use those for my night elf chars aswell.
So Bliz is now analyzing which mounts get used the most, why? What’s next? “Too many paladins are using T6 or mythic ToS tier as transmog so we are gonna disable this mog, there is not enough diversity”. Who is Bliz to tell me to use an other mount for water walking (and water walking only since I only use stridder for that)? It’s a WATER strider, it’s in the name and I earned it by fishing up endless rare fish to trade in for rep with Nat Pagle. Twice (no clue why it did the 2nd time, but it was WoD the raid or die expansion).
That implies that everyone already has / is going to have a water strider. And that’s just not the case. To be honest, if I didn’t have mine already… I don’t think I would do the grind. I would just stick some stupid swimming sponges onto my horse and call it a day.
I don’t believe the thing you propose would actually happen. Which is why I am against ending the water strider the way it currently exists.
But how about this: Let’s put in the new system, not touch the water strider and just watch what happens? We had it for seven years (?) now, would it be so terrible to leave it in for another half a year or so? Or let’s say the rest of BfA, pathfinder is coming anyway, impact would be minimal.
at the moment is character specific, so all mounts will use tyhe same equip, but i’d really prefer to be able to equip specific mounts with specific equip thingie, so i could use different mounts in different situations, without having to overwrite the equipo every time i need a different one.
It sounds stupid yes, i honestly would prefer some more mounts with unique things like the sky golem or the water strider instead
Completely agreed. We don’t need less special things in the game, we need more of them. Everything is already so meaningless and dull… gear, worldquests, it’s all undefined gray matter.
