I’ve put a ticket in for this … but thought I’d mention it here as well because I’ve not seen anyone else bring it up, and it’s taken us ages to try and work out what is going on.
When we create a guild event (or a community event), it is showing as grey on the calendar, and people cannot sign up as tentative. They can only sign definite. We use both of these options and would like them back, please
The only way to get “tentative” working is if we create a non-guild event, and then individually invite people … THEN they are able to select tentative.
EDIT … just to add that I did the usual of loading with no addons running, resetting Cache, WTF, etc … still happened. Tried multiple characters. Tried multiple types of events. Asked around and others on the realm are having the same problem.

I have the same issue as well. The only way to make it work is to create a non-guild event and invite ppl manualy, since I heard that mass invite doesn’t work correctly as well…
I never used the mass invite anyway … because it invited people who had signed up, but had not been accepted to the raid. I suppose it depends on how you use the calendar … but for us, everyone in the guild has the ability to sign up for raids/events on the calendar if they fulfil the requirements for it. So I can’t do individual invites. Then we ask people to sign as definite if they can definitely make the full event and fulfil requirements, tentative if they’re not sure (level slightly too low, not sure if they’re going to be available, etc, but they’d like to attend if it comes to it on the day).
I’ve been using a calendar addon for quite some time (years) called Group Calendar, that allows me to do a lot more with my events than the default … like selecting who I would like to invite and then mass inviting them, sorting into roles so it’s easy to see how many healers, etc, we have … but it is only sporadically supported by the author and Blizz keeps mucking with stuff in the background that breaks it … so it took me a while to realise it was nothing to do with the addon.
Anyway … I spoke to others on our realm discord, and it turns out it’s a fairly common thing, so I put a ticket in, and got the response that they’d had several similar complaints … and to put in an in-game bug report. Which I have done. I’d recommend others do the same. Hopefully they get round to fixing it, along with all the other guild-related problems …
We’re still having this problem, and it’s starting to impact on our guild raids. People want to sign up as tentative … which for us means they would like to be there, will hope to be there, but can’t guarantee it … yet they can’t. I’m really surprised that this hasn’t actually been fixed yet.
Blizzard please, when are you gonna fix this problem? Guildmembers can NOT use tentative on the calendar, and yes even with all addons off and reload UI they still can NOT use tentative! Solve this problem please! First time this was posted was december 18th 2018. This reply i post now is Januar 19th 2019. A month later!

Yeah still having problems with this. Still having people signing up for events, or trying to, as tentative, and being unable to do so. They’re having to wait until I’m online, then signing up as definite and asking me to switch them to tentative, because that’s the only way we can find to do it. Another “meh, it’s just guilds” kick from Blizz
Hey Poisonenvy,
The developers are aware of this issue and are working on a solution. Sorry for the inconvenience and confusion caused by this.
Have a few seconds to spare? Let me know how I’m doing!

Oh excellent, thank you! It’s just nice to know that (a) they’re aware of it (sometimes you just feel like you’re shouting into the storm!) and (b) intending to fix it.
I’m assuming when you say they’re working on a solution … you mean they’re going to make it so we can have people sign tentative again? Rather than just remove the option … eek
Whilst they’re at it … I don’t suppose by any chance it’s taking some time to fix because they’re actually overhauling the whole calendar system? Would be great for it to have some love … ideally so it worked like this addon: https://wow.curseforge.com/projects/group-calendar
Any updates? As I am now having to rely on alternative ways to solve this issue since it seems to take possibly long time to fix?
Still not fixed and we are three months or longer in since it was highlighted. Very annoying.
I’m kinda hoping it might be fixed with the next patch this coming week? Or is that too much to hope for?
It is still regularly causing problems for my guild. No matter how often I tell them that tentative is broken, and to either only sign up when I’m online and ask me to switch their sign-up to tentative, or simply not sign up at all, I’m still getting people trying to sign as tentative, failing, signing as definite instead, and then causing all sorts of problems when I’m trying to organise groups.
Gah … and still can’t reply to my own posts. sigh
Anyway … what I was going to say was:
So I’ve just checked in the patch notes, and I see:
Added Calendar support – manage personal, community, and guild events, and view upcoming holidays.
I got rather excited until I saw it was under the heading of the Companion App.
I’ve not had it double checked yet … but it appears this may now well be fixed … woohoo!
Now if we could just get the calendar actually upgraded so it’s more useful (being able to put people in role groups, mass invites of only those actually selected to join, being able to see if any members who were signed for an event are actually in the current group, etc) … and get the permissions and guild admin side of things improved … that would be great
