Hello

I need to purchase a new iMac so that I can play Classic (may also continue with retail). I’m looking to purchase the 21.5" model - the 27" for me is just way too big and in your face. I’ve played WoW on older 21.5" models for over a decade and have been fine with the screen size.

My question:

Does anyone out there have the following model, and how do you get on with it? How does it play?

21.5 inch with Retina 4K display
3.2GHz 6-core 8th-generation Intel Core i7 processor (turbo boost to 4.6GHz)
16GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
Radeon Pro Vega 20 with 4BG of HBM2 memory
1TB SSD storage

The model above is the top spec available in the 21.5 inch model.

If you have this model yourself or very simalar are you happy with performance? Graphics-wise, is it good enough.

Are you really asking if your computer will be able to run a 2004 game?

Really any modern iMac will run wow. Won’t run many other games though.

Don’t have an iMac, but I do have a Macbook Pro from 2014 (late 13 model) which still runs WoW on graphics option 3. Any more and my Macbook simply gets too warm.

Now with a brand new iMac containing the specs as stated you shouldn’t have any issues. Perhaps not on ultra ultra max settings, but surely 60+ fps without the blink of an eye on decent settings.

Not really. I’m asking if Mac users have this specific model, and if they do, whether they are happy with it.

I recently got a 21.5" for schoolwork and it runs retail just fine so I’d guess it would run classic just fine too.

Might I ask… Did you purchase yours this year? Can I ask if you know what graphics card it has?

I just got it this summer and I got it with a Radeon Pro 555 instead of the chip.

The Radeon Pro 555X? Have the graphics been good when playing casually?

Yeah, everything works fine but wow is a CPU intense game in the first place.
