Essentially, we have no choice; we’ll have to use only these party frames, but in that case,
I beg you, I urge you, take a look, test it out. Not as a damage dealer, but as a healer.
Because as a DD, I don’t see a problem. But as a healer, I understand that this is an extremely complicated interface for a role responsible for other people’s HP and debuffs. In these frames are our job.
Maybe I just don’t know where to look for solutions yet, and if there are any, please give me some advice. Or let it be like a mini-guide for old, accustomed to addons healers. Because UI And Macro forum section is dead.
I’ll start by describing my problems from the perspective of a healer who’s never used the standard interface, and already at the first stages cannot move forward:
- I enabled the standard party and raid frames for the first time and realized that they don’t work when playing solo. Visually, all that’s left is the standard “me” frame with my portrait, name, hp, mp. Which causes a huge problem described below (3).
So, I guess I need to get used to two different HP frame positions: Solo in one place, party and raid in another?
But then, when I am in a group, I have duplicates - standard “me” frame in one place, and “Me” in Party/raid frames in other location. These frames must be located in different places, as they do not replace each other, and cannot overlap each other.
In my healing addon (Vuhdo), wheter I’m in a group or solo, the “me” frame always appears ONLY in vuhdo frame, as if I’m in a group.
How to simulate this behavior in the standard interface, so that both positions and styles are merged in one place, and do not turn off depending on the size of the group ?
-
So then I tried setting up Click Casting, and it’s causing the following problems:
When I try to bind such an important spell as DISPEL from a friendly target (Purify), a red message appears saying “Not available for Click Cast Binding”.
But when I do the same with Dispel Magic (purge from enemy), there are no such restrictions.
Why? What’s the difference? Why make it more complicated? -
Which is connected with all the above:
My current addon has a feature that disables the use of binds if the cursor isn’t within Vuhdo party frame range. This means I can bind mouse-right-click to Flash Heal, for example.
I did not find such a feature in the standard interface options, and standard party frame disappears when I’m soloing. So, not only do I have to heal myself in a different frame which is located somewhere else, but also right-click now uses Flash Heal on ALL frames, including the target’s and the focus one, which means I cannot access the Context menu anymore.
Report target? - Nope, Flash Heal them.
Want to change the loot or dungeon difficulty while not in a group? - Flash Heal yourself.
Do you want to leave the group? - You won’t escape! Flash Heal yourself. -
Debuffs. How can I make debuffs more visible? That tiny blue translucent debuff dot is hard to see. It’s a microscopic dot that can easily go unnoticed when you have a whole raid of players.
I didn’t find any filters for this; in this pile of icons it’s not immediately clear where what is. Is it priority or not, when a bunch of icons appear on multiple players party or raid frames.
I don’t have time to look at the icon or tiny dot and compare them, when I need to dispel several debuffs within 10 seconds range.
Currently, my addon completely colors a player’s HP in a different color, so that I know they have a debuff that can be dispeled. Is it possible to do this in the standard interface? How?
Please help me understand the standard interface. Or help improve the healer’s game in the future, because now we are all spoiled, we do not check all this, we still have comfortable addons…
But at one point, suddenly, we’ll have to plunge into something that will require a lot of figuring out. After all, unlike DD, we’re constantly looking at these frames.
Perhaps with enough attention, the standard interface will be made more… less complicated for a healer’s already difficult life.
