Calling healers! Please help with the default party frames and test it in the game yourself in Healers role, before it all reaches Midnight release

Essentially, we have no choice; we’ll have to use only these party frames, but in that case,
I beg you, I urge you, take a look, test it out. Not as a damage dealer, but as a healer.
Because as a DD, I don’t see a problem. But as a healer, I understand that this is an extremely complicated interface for a role responsible for other people’s HP and debuffs. In these frames are our job.

Maybe I just don’t know where to look for solutions yet, and if there are any, please give me some advice. Or let it be like a mini-guide for old, accustomed to addons healers. Because UI And Macro forum section is dead.

I’ll start by describing my problems from the perspective of a healer who’s never used the standard interface, and already at the first stages cannot move forward:

  1. I enabled the standard party and raid frames for the first time and realized that they don’t work when playing solo. Visually, all that’s left is the standard “me” frame with my portrait, name, hp, mp. Which causes a huge problem described below (3).

So, I guess I need to get used to two different HP frame positions: Solo in one place, party and raid in another?

But then, when I am in a group, I have duplicates - standard “me” frame in one place, and “Me” in Party/raid frames in other location. These frames must be located in different places, as they do not replace each other, and cannot overlap each other.

In my healing addon (Vuhdo), wheter I’m in a group or solo, the “me” frame always appears ONLY in vuhdo frame, as if I’m in a group.

How to simulate this behavior in the standard interface, so that both positions and styles are merged in one place, and do not turn off depending on the size of the group ?

  1. So then I tried setting up Click Casting, and it’s causing the following problems:
When I try to bind such an important spell as DISPEL from a friendly target (Purify), a red message appears saying “Not available for Click Cast Binding”.
But when I do the same with Dispel Magic (purge from enemy), there are no such restrictions.
Why? What’s the difference? Why make it more complicated?

  2. Which is connected with all the above:
My current addon has a feature that disables the use of binds if the cursor isn’t within Vuhdo party frame range. This means I can bind mouse-right-click to Flash Heal, for example.
I did not find such a feature in the standard interface options, and standard party frame disappears when I’m soloing. So, not only do I have to heal myself in a different frame which is located somewhere else, but also right-click now uses Flash Heal on ALL frames, including the target’s and the focus one, which means I cannot access the Context menu anymore.
Report target? - Nope, Flash Heal them.
Want to change the loot or dungeon difficulty while not in a group? - Flash Heal yourself.
Do you want to leave the group? - You won’t escape! Flash Heal yourself.

  3. Debuffs. How can I make debuffs more visible? That tiny blue translucent debuff dot is hard to see. It’s a microscopic dot that can easily go unnoticed when you have a whole raid of players.

I didn’t find any filters for this; in this pile of icons it’s not immediately clear where what is. Is it priority or not, when a bunch of icons appear on multiple players party or raid frames.
I don’t have time to look at the icon or tiny dot and compare them, when I need to dispel several debuffs within 10 seconds range.

Currently, my addon completely colors a player’s HP in a different color, so that I know they have a debuff that can be dispeled. Is it possible to do this in the standard interface? How?

Please help me understand the standard interface. Or help improve the healer’s game in the future, because now we are all spoiled, we do not check all this, we still have comfortable addons…
But at one point, suddenly, we’ll have to plunge into something that will require a lot of figuring out. After all, unlike DD, we’re constantly looking at these frames.
Perhaps with enough attention, the standard interface will be made more… less complicated for a healer’s already difficult life.

That’s a pipe dream .if they were serious they would had hired addon creators or keep the addons as they were Till a proper testing was done and approved by community .

Nah.

I’m probably just gonna reroll from healer. They’re not going to get it right with damage relative to hp and on top of that they’re gonna destroy the UI.

The lack of UI customization in FFXIV is what ultimately drove me away from it even if I like the gameplay. It’s just not playable as a healer with the UI they have. The same problem exists with Blizzard’s UI.

I can give my two cents. I have built my UI around these two kinds of macros:

If you mouseover an ally in the frames - Cast Flash Heal.
If you target an enemy - Cast Smite.

This helps to reduce keybinds.

the box is [ ] without any space in-between. This is just a simple mouseover for abilities that I don’t need to pair up with a dmg spell.

Yes, I believe the “You” frame cannot be disabled.

I don’t use any click-casting so I can’t provide any feedback on that.
For dispelling, I use:

And it works completely fine.

I have no fix for this but it is hilarious they didn’t catch this when they were implementing it  They keep making changes as if nobody on their team plays a healer.

The debuff display is very underdeveloped and I believe Ion said they’re going to work on it. Currently, I use BigDebuffs to enhance the party frames, if they don’t make significant improvements till Midnight, it’s gonna be miserable.

The only thing you can really do right now is Esc->Interface and scroll down to the “Raid Frames” and tick “Show only dispellable debuffs.”

And I’ll say again that they need to make a “Healer” section in the Interface menu so we don’t need to read through everything just to see what might be potentially useful to us.

That’s all info I can provide, maybe if other people chime in, we can cook something useful out of the blizz settings.

Oh, Thank You for the tips! I’ll definitely try them.

Eh, the default frames (raid at least) are perfectly fine to heal with. Just some mouse-over macros (or the setting by now) and you’re golden.

Debuffs, yep, those need some attention still.

But don’t look for each and every Vudhu feature and try to find it in the Blizzard frames…start adjusting, start digging into the UI settings…there are quite some nice tweaks to apply.

I met this bug aswell. Yes it’s a bug. It’s been around since at least May 2024. I got around it with dragging that spell into the click casting box instead of clicking on it like the game tells you to. Like he does in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GAAgoi9nXqo

And in this post you will find a link the the bug described: Cell/VuHdo/Healbot-Midnight - #44 by Ishayo-tarren-mill

And this is what we healers get to work with in Midnight.

I understand this very well.
I don’t expect “pretty” frames, clever casts, or spell calculations/predictions.
But as a responsible healer, I don’t want people dying under my care because I didn’t notice a debuff, or didn’t have time to get used to new binds, frame positions, or because I unknowingly created these binds with complicated application. It’s shameful.

Thanks for this knowledge
I tried to prepare for using this standard interface in advance, finding video instructions and forum posts about setting up raid frames.
But searching for information about this turns into a search for a breadcrumbs.
Perhaps because healers haven’t yet en masse tried to replace their interface with the standard one, and other roles aren’t as tied to it.
And that’s exactly what scares me. I don’t want this to become a massive problem when the timer hits 00:00. We’re all in this boat.

However, with Click Casting, I didn’t know it was a bug and thought it was intended. Thank you.
I’ve already collected an incredible amount of advice from all of you.
Thank you

Currently I don’t use default frames as healer because even after all blizz done for customization is sucks. You can’t configure separate size for frames in 10/25 groups, all goes same(since df i believe? I could remember that was customizable some time in first month, later that were broken and never repaired, nope?).

You can’t. There is no option for that.

it’s hard for blizzard to make an option to enable mousecast only over party/raidframes. Since 2004 the only solution for that is @player;friendly;alive macro

You can’t.

That’s the whole point of healers worry right now, because what blizz proposes instead of cell/vuhdo/healbot - doesn’t work, no, it’s not a bit harder or more complicated - it just DOES NOT WORKS. At all.

Only as healer?) I suppose jokes that blizz devs not playing own game isn’t jokes anymore

They have to fix stuff like this. It’s unacceptable. If they want players to play without mods, which I support in some cases and not in others, the things they do include have to work. It’s that simple.

You know what I think? I think they’ve been playing with the same addons we have and haven’t noticed all the brokenness in the default UI themselves. I legitimately don’t think Blizzard have any developers who use click casting with the default UI. Not a single one.

Because this bug just jumps in your face immediately.
