Callings are bad for the game

Callings puts me off from doing word quests, they hurt the game so much IMO. Hopefully Blizzard wont make the same mistake in DF!

I agree 100% Especially when we add tedious SL traveling into equation. BFA had best wq’s.

The current problem with the callings is they are not finishable anymore by just doing M+ :grimacing:

I think I could count on the fingers of one hand how many Callings I’ve done

I sometimes do them if it’s a triple calling but it’s quite rare for that to happen. I miss Legion wqs the most though. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve stopped doing callings like one week after SL launch, but i did do them when triple overlap happens. Then at some point i stopped doing triple overlap as well.
Quests themselves are tedious multi-step and are taking ‘a lot’ of time, but it’s the traveling that kills me.

How does it put you off? You do not have to do it, it is just a benefit of doing WQs in a specific zone.

Yes, as if everything was done to be obnoxious in SL. You have to fly to Oribos and then to the zone you want, feels like forever. More like separate instances than a “world”. Always think twice before I fly somewhere haha.

One of the absolutely worst things about SL. How could they actually think it’s a good design? You can only think so if you’re not playing the game :eyes:

One thing SL taught me is how strong engineering is on alt if you want to do callings. You can clear two zones if it was needed for multiple callings and it made you get to a single zone quite fast.

It sped up the process so much that most of the alts I was doing callings on had engineering on them for the wormhole.

multi steps and travelling were clearly added for “metrics”. Legion was the best. Pickup the calling in the zone, complete them and hand in in the zone. No mess around of travelling backwards and forwards.

Not a fan of the weekly either, especially when its purposefully dumbed down to make it laborious.

I occasionally smash out all 3 callings at once on my alt if it doesn’t have much capital. My current main earns his money from crafting and gear from m+ / casual raiding so I have no reason to touch world quests and the whole world quest model grinds my gears anyway.

Before anyone else says it - I don’t believe world quests should be increased personally, if you only do open world content then the ilvl rewards etc are enough. Personally I agree with the older style of ideology, gear is better the harder the content and having gear etc behind rep with daily questing hubs.

Rep should be account wide though! Once you have exalted on one toon all your toons should have exalted

Edit - the last point also helps with players like me who switch mains. My current main has been for the latter part of shadowlands my first main got exalted across the board and I’ve never bothered to even attempt grinding then again - I don’t have time for that. Wish I could play the game 8 hours a day but I can’t lucky if I can do 8 hours a week sometimes

I dont think calling are bad, but i think the rewards for them in Shadowlands were. BFA had Randomized Calling rewards it was always:

  • Reputation
  • One of the following: 2000 gold, A Bunch of Azerite, Bonus Reputation

If the reward were not interesting, you were skipping it. You were not doing it every single day, so it became a simple mater of choice after a while.

With Shadowland, we had Renown Catch up tied to it, and one of the only good way to make raw gold, after some raw gold nerf, was to farm Callings on multiple characters (aprox. 1600g per calling).

  1. The reward structure was boring and always the same. We never had this holy day were the 3 calling was giving 2000gold, which was fun in BFA.
  2. The traveling method was repetitive and boring.
  3. The only ‘‘excitment’’ about them came from the fact the 3 calling were on the same zone, which was happening one a while due to the High number of variations of Callings.

To be fair, point 2 will be better in the Dragon Isle, between the fact it’s a big island instead of disconnected realms and the Dragon riding that will help to dynamize those travel time. The other two points are actually unsure, if they do Callings (which i have no doubt).

I do wonder why they never used the MoP rep token system again. Get revered, all your characters get 100% rep bonus. Good compromise imo!

Callings are the only reason why I do any wqs at all. The only annoying part of them in SL is that you have to go to your covenant to pick them up.

Wormhole generator is a must if you want to do callings
Some sadist decided, it will be fun to put the Zereth Mortis portal in to the paragon box… the time it would drop, no body will need it

I prefer the old system where we had daily quests at least they were consistent. I especially liked the Mechagon format.

This expansion I have barely done callings or world quests, I hope with the reputation changes next expansion they make them bearable as i find them so tedious.

To be fair, SL callings would be fine, but WQs are damn long
I miss the Turtles :turtle:
I miss the Nazjatar mini game WQs (I know they basically back but only in ZM)
I do miss the Kirin Tor mini-quests

Yep, they are far too long and really unrewarding too especially when the gear isn’t good, and you can buy crafted gear which is better

We can’t be friends anymore :weary:
