Of course its not to spite, the design motivation is entirely driven by generating more profit to the cost of playerâs enjoyment of a game.
You earlier said that people complained about earlier systems⌠in that sense, a company should have reflected on that and do the changes to address it.
INSTEAD what they did - Blizzard-Activision DOUBLED DOWN on camping and timers.
I see it as a degradation of a game quality that we ALL will be affected.
Itâs not my selfish endeavour to change the system to cater to my needs - on the contrary - NO ONE enjoys the current system and EVERYONE would benefit from a more engaging design.
These mounts are supposed to be a test of patience. The sweeter is the joy when you get it. Some get them by luck and can praise their fortune.
There are so many other ways to get mounts. I see absolutely no reason to change this, not everyone agrees, so speak for yourself and let others do the same.
At this point, any previous systems would be a much better alternative⌠Warfront style, Legion style, paragon cache style⌠any of them.
From the top of my head, some new ideas (mind you I dont get paid to design and come up with such things):
How about something like Mage Tower? Not only that you would become better at the game you are playing, but also receiving a reward for actually operating your character. (P.S. Do not start using Mage Tower example I just gave as some kind of scapegoat to divert the issue, it is just one example from top of my headâŚ)
Can Blizzard announce on next Blizzcon: âTest your patience and get these mounts by waiting in the same spot doing nothing for hoursâ? How would players react?
Ok, so you speak for the ones that enjoy this type of thing.
Why? Why and how is this enjoyable for you? Please explain.
I already told you. I park a char at the spot and log in every now and then to see if there is a spawn. If I get tired of doing it, I do something else. I donât count on getting that rare mount, but I like the chance of it.
All mmos are tests of patience, always grind involved and waiting. They donât advertise it like that ofcourse.
You described the process how you do it, but not why you enjoy it. Also, You wouldnât call âlogging in just to see if a rare is spawnedâ playing a game, would you?
So why do you enjoy the process of logging in just to see if a rare is spawned? Is this enjoyable to you?
Yes, I would. Some other rare drop grinds have you kill some level 60 mobs thousands of times. Aeonaxx camping has you sit on one place instead (the challenge is similar).
Itâs about the balance between effort and payoff. If I think something takes too much effort for a low payoff, I wonât do it. But the process of putting effort for a future payoff is the basis of many games
NO one described WHY itâs enjoyable. Everyone here says âI eNjOyEd Itâ.
Itâs like a Casino player saying I enjoyed it because I won a jackpot. Did he enjoy all the other times that he lost? He would answer differently if asked then. Itâs a gamblerâs high.
No one does this process for the enjoyment of the process itself. Everyone does this for the reward. Take away the reward from this process - NOBODY would do it. End of the line.
