Can’t find a class I like

Hi, everyone, first time posting here thought you could maybe help me with this problem of mine. I have leveled almost every class and tried almost every spec but I can’t seem to find a class that really “clicks” for me, class fantasy is key for me and I really like morally ambiguous characters like Illidan which was incredible in legion but the demon hunter class itself feels clunky and weird to play. Is there anyone who found himself struggling to find a class he liked and eventually found one and can share what got him to stick to one?

Priest back story is really cool overall. I really like almost everything added in Legion specially their Shadow Weapon. Priest may not be my main but i really like their backgrounds

Biggest issue for me is that most classes have the exact same abilities, just in different wrapping.

I’ve stuck to my druid because of lore, and it’s a hybrid. If you really like the demon hunter lore, I would just keep trying to get used to how it plays, for a while longer. Imo most classes feel pretty similar, so not sure you’ll find less clunky elsewhere.

My Max levels in an expansion usually end up being

Death knight Usually Unholy (Main)

Hunter.

Then Paladin and druid.

classes don’t feel unique in wow idk there isn’t any big differences between mage and warlock other than visuals, lock’s pet style is not like the pet classes in other games. rogue and feral has only few differences but basically the same playstyle .
about the class fantasy , i’d do every class hall in the game to decide which feels better , leveling them doesn’t always give you the real feeling of the spec but class halls are great for that.

my advice test out ever class u like ever space till u are 30 or so dont like then dalete it make other 1 till then just keep test see u like dont like any class would sey just delete wow play other game u like sure somting u like class right

They used to. Over the years they gradually became more similar to each other.

kinda yeah, i played wotlk too so yes there where more differences between classes but still wasn’t that different i mean if you look at gw2 classes they all feel different all casters have variety of play styles but in wow the fundamentals of class design is just meh, fire mage and destro lock were basically the same in wotlk

I have played since vanilla. WotLK had already changed the classes a lot. For me TBC was the peak of class uniqueness and still feeling useful. No perfect game, but TBC my alts mattered in offering different playstyles.

I also find it difficult to find a class. For me the class abilities are the most important. I tried hunter, warrior, death knight, druid, mage, warlock.
I think I will settle with warrior - can use all weapons, shields, good mobility, can be a tank, any race can be a warrior (so I can play my favourite races - night and void elves).

You like morally ambiguous characters then:

  • Demon hunter - you will get used to it - it has good mobility and some cool abilities. And you have additional customisation of your character appearance
  • Warlock - always great DPS, tanky pets, really useful abilities
  • Death knight - some cool abilities but feels slow and clunky
  • Shadow priest - cool fantasy, cool abilities and you can re-spec into the good side
  • Rogue - not my favourite - feels tedious to constantly collect and spend combo points, difficult to learn, if you like its play style you could do great DPS.

I have 8 classes on lvl 70 and I still don’t have one that I really really like to play. The only reason I stick to my warlock mostly is because I have most of my achievements on him. Honestly it sucks so badly, idk if my time on WoW is just running out or if dragonflight is just not for me.

I mean I have 3 classes that kind of do it…I like my warlock class fantasy but the gameplay is just such a bore, awful. I like my hunter gameplay but the class fantasy is not just there, you are basically a dude with a bow. And evoker has decent class fantasy and kind of unique gameplay but holy hell are the empowered spells janky to use and the 25 yard range, can’t get around that one.

Don’t you like shadow priest? It has cool fantasy that has some similarities with the warlock.
I have played hunter but its gameplay quickly gets boring. Except the bow the dude has a beast but it’s not enough to make it my main.
I am considering evoker to be my healer alt. It fits thematically very well with the current expansion. It’s limited range is not a bad feature, it makes it unique.

It seems you like demon hunter but you dont like playstyle.

Dont go for momentum spec - its hard to play.

Just go simple demonic build - you will love it. Makee your own spec instead of coping from wowhead or iceyveins.

Also nothing wrong with being altoholics.

Stick to one and really play it until you develop a sense for the class.

Class fantasy nowadays depends on the player since all classes are just reskins for the most part.

Shaman can be played as an anti-hero too for example. Look at nerzhul, he was a shaman, in a sense gul’dan was one as well if I remember correctly (the line between a shaman/witch doctor and a warlock used to be rather thin)

I have one single issue with shamans - they can’t use swords. If they could probably they would become my favorite class.

Too much blade, not enough haft.
