Can a worgen become an Elune priestess?

So Worgens and Night Elves have shared a home for quite sometime now, so do you think a worgen priestess could become a Elune priestess ? Would it make sense for worgen priestesses to want to after living with the Kaldorei for several years ? Would the kaldorei accept them in or would it be against their religion ?

I don’t think Worgen want to become part of the Elune cult. Yes, they are Druids but the roots of Gilnean Druidism lies with Harvest-witches iirc, and it’s not as strongly based on deities as the way Night Elf practise it. And a Worgen Priest is nothing more than a Gilnean who believes and practises the Holy Light, and has no connection to Elune.

Moon Priestesses are not only a religious thing, but also the leading political force in Kaldorei society, commanding the elven military. So, getting accepted into their ranks would also be a political statement. Night Elves weren’t exactly a progressive society, when they were introduced, and you would think people with millenia of habits wouldn’t have an easy time making such sudden and progressive changes… But the way the game’s story is going, who knows. Maybe there could be some backing for it… though I wouldn’t expect an entirely welcoming environment even if accepted…

Secondly… the Night Elves believe themselves Elune’s chosen people. It would be kind of strange to accept someone below that in their priesthood, and probably need some quite… creative reinterpretations of religious precedent that more conservative Night Elves most certainly wouldn’t be happy with.

Another relevant question would be: How long does the training take? It’s a Night Elf only profession for now. The curriculum is probably fitted to Night Elf expectations… including their life span. A worgen who got in there might spent his whole live as a low-ranking novice, who knows? That said, in regards to training time, Blizzard hasn’t exactly been harsh or consistent, either, so… might as well be irrelevant as well…

But from the Worgen’s side I don’t see much of a problem. If we are not talking about a society-wide phenomenon, I see no reason why single individuals wouldn’t be convinced to change religion. So having a priest, able to wield some Light magic, who is an adherent of Elune should be easy enough. And I am sure many Night Elves would have more respect for that, than for someone who denies the existence of Elune… Which might not be saying all that much.

Interesting take, didn’t think of the age part of the problem. I have been looking around for sources on the matter and apparently none-kaldorei priests and priestesses of Elune are a thing, but are rare:

“Once, all priests who served Elune were all [night elf] women. However, after the devastation of the Third War, traditional gender roles were discarded in favor of permitting night elves to choose the vocations they most desired. As a result, although a majority of Elune’s priests are still women, the order now welcomes men into its ranks. Since the night elves emerged from their societal isolation, the priests of Elune have also extended membership to a few priests of other races.”

Possibly. It would require the willingness of the Night Elves to teach and the dedication on the human’s part. Anyone can become anything, technically, as per Blizzard goes.

Then there would also be the question of why would the Gilneans reject the Light in favour of Elune.

Depends on these priestesses.

The Night Elves believe that all creatures are Elune’s children, as Tyrande showed with Broxigar Saurfang.

And yes, as Wimbert explained, they believe that they are the chosen ones of Mother Moon.

In fact, they very much are actually favoured in a lot of occasions and miracles where Elune intervenes on behalf of the Night Elves.

While the Encyclopedia does state this, it does not really have any credit, there is no hint nor any other mention of other races (whichever these races may be) joining the Sisterhood.

Whether there is anything physically stopping other races from becoming priests of Elune - we don’t know for certain, but I would wager that no, there isn’t. Seeing how we’ve got…sigh…hints that the Trolls are also favoured by Elune.

But given the current circumstances Night Elves are in I do not think that broadening their faith to the humans is at the forefront of their thoughts.

I’d say that yes, worgen could come to practise the religion of the night elves, but I doubt you’ll ever see a non night elf in the Sisterhood itself.

Wait what? Where was that stated?

There was no outright statement, only hints that the Lun’alai tribe of the Trolls have Elune as their matron.

I think it would be weird, and the Nightelves wouldn’t really accept it.
One of their major themes is, that they think they are chosen by Elune as a people.
