Can I get a free migration?

I came back after a long time to just check out BFA on a all new acc.
The idea of getting a fresh start felt nice, especially with a free main boost.
I thought I try a realm that I never used before. Since the realm list has changed it seems, there were no more pvp tags, only population matters.

So I took stormscale and started setting my macros back up, trying a few alts quick to see what changed and so on. All this time whenever I was saying something in stormwind in /1 or /2 there were no replies, in fact nobody saying anything, ever. Maybe once per hour one line from someone, at most.
I wasn’t sure if people left wow in general or if this was a new trend in terms of peak activity, maybe I was always playing when people were working/studying/sleeping, so I didn’t worry too much how empty chat felt.

After a week it started annoying me and I intentionally asked “anyone here?” etc., watching chat for long periods… nothing. Then I started looking for a guild to buy my alts some heirlooms. First guild listed said “if you read this, run, go, leave… this server is dead! migrate if you can!”

Great advice, 10 days too late; lvl 120 main with almost finished the unlock bfa world quests grind, a manually played monk 1-70, and several other alts. 30k gold wasted (which is a lot for me trust me, got lucky found some transmog items, already spent every penny on flying and enchants).
And then I find out that the realm is 100% D E A D - D E A D.
Funny thing is, the realm list said population: HIGH!
Nice fake news. Or maybe blizz had to lower their standards and call any realm that has more than 50 players logged on for 1h a day “HIGH” in activity?

There is NO WAY IN HELL I can afford to migrate my chars, or even would if I had the money. So now I’m absolutely stuck in this deader than dead dead realm.
Fun times. Can’t get in a guild, raids, nothing. Nobody even to talk to.
Had better times at my friends nephews pet rock funeral. Jesus.

Seriously though, what are my chances of getting a free full migration?
Or is blizz going to reply with a generic “tough luck buddy, shoulda read the fine print!” when they lied to me about realm population?

Stormscale isnt dead, but its 95%+ horde.

sadly that makes it even more unlikely to get a free migration, because the server has 400k players, and it 3rd biggest server horde playerbase wise.

they didnt lie to you about population, it is truly a big server… but you wont feel that ever if you’re alliance :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t know if you will get a free migration as they didn’t offer them when draenor broke back in August.

Realm pop may be your friend if you do decide to pay for a move though.

So, you made a choice, the choice was wrong, and now you want Blizzard to fix your mistake? Sadly, this won’t happen. It was your mistake not to check on what faction the population is on the server, not Blizzards. You can’t and won’t get anything for free because you messed up.

Sadly Blizzard are unlikely to give you a free server migration. The onus is on the player to check out servers before they set down roots.

Yeah and how exactly is someone supposed to do that?
Just google stormscale population, 2018, fresh results, ALEXA: give me a lecture about faction activity on realm “stormscale” etc…? It’s blizzards job to inform us. And they did. By saying “high population” on this realm. Which by common sense means as a whole and no “yeah but it’s 99% horde only” and then blaming me for not being “in the loop” and knowing about all these in depth population trends. I don’t study these things and it’s not my job to do so. Blizz tells me population is high, I assume it’s true, but they made a mistake in not telling me it’s only horde. So no, it’s not my fault. And yes, they should give me a free migration, and put BETTER, MORE DETAILED TAGS on realms, saying how many % are horde, how many alliance, how many people are playing, active chars, during which hours etc.

Go to realm pop, search realms, see which one is more Alliance and more Horde. Doesn’t take much.

It is a HIGH pop, it’s just more Horde than Alliance. And it was your mistake not to check WHICH faction is in control of the realm more, not Blizzards.

You don’t need to be “in the loop”. You literally type “Realm pop” in Google and it shows you ALL of the realms and which faction controls which.

No, they shouldn’t. YOU are not entitled to a free mitigation for YOUR mistake. You just learn from your mistake and do 5-10 seconds or “research” to find out.

If the AH is at all functional, something I doubt, you can pay for transfers with in-game gold through wow tokens.

Having said that, it blows, but sadly you really can’t blame Blizzard for this. Good luck all the same and perhaps you’ll prove everyone wrong and get transfers if you open a ticket.

yes we can, stormscale was a great balanced server, then with all the crz stuff they forced alliance players out (i have moved an alliance char out of there IN PANDARIA because it was unplayable)
there is no server identity/server pride anymore, the shard manager will do whatever it wants anyway
there is no point to have servers anymore
yes i will blame blizzard for it, stormscale was unplayable for the alliance 5 years ago and its still unplayable today

Their is 0% chance you will get free transfer.
What you can do is start like me fresh on releam you wanted. Btw don’t get fooled by high pop releam - it might be filled with elite people which you might not like it. New player releams are also nice and cool people there.

Then no one gonna make char on low pop and unbalanced releams. High pop releams don’t need any more people there even with sharding.

Unbelievable how many missunderstand the point here.
I’m being pretty reasonable with my request, yet most replies are loaded with salt as if I was asking for a free gender/name change “just because” or “I’m bored” or something else like “give me free titles and mounts I don’t want to earn them with work”…

You are confusing free migration A with B.
A) you start on exactly the realm you want to, it is everything you desire, but over the span of many years the population starts dying and players leave. You are left on a low pop dead realm and want out. You are salty now that you have to pay.
That is you.

B) I just joined, my first time ever on that realm, I know only what blizz told me: HIGH population, but they falsely advertised it; alliance is dead. They lied. And I just joined and found out about it now.

If you seriously can not fathom the difference between A and B,
I can’t help you understand why you are wrong and if this was any other normal business deal, I would have the right to get a free migration to a realm that is truely high in a ACTIVE population on BOTH faction sides.

Oh and here come more salty replies. Let them rain. I think I already knew this was the best advice I would get from the community… salt salt envious salt and missunderstanding. Cool stuff. Moving on to directly contact blizzard then.

Just giving you realistic answers. What you can do is make ticket. Forum won’t help you much nor we can give you free transfer :grinning:

@All: The population status indicator could indeed use some improvements, but as some people have noted, there is additional data available on other sites and there is always the option of asking, both in game and on the forum, if one desires additional details. The new players / returnees forum, the general forum, realm specific fora, etc…

you can see how this is wrong in so many levels right?
the game must provide all the essential (this is essnetial for a new player) info on it’s own…or else it’s just a bait for character transfers
