I’ve seen a lot of people use add-ons, and i was just curious, can I, as a player, get banned/permanently banned for using them?

As long as they go in your interface folder it’s fine. Any ‘addon’ that does not and interferes with the game program is bannable.
Addons are basically text files so they only do what the WoW program lets them do.

Basically… install the Twitch client which has a catalogue of addons you can install and it does it for you. If it’s on twitch, it’s fine, if Blizzard decide one of the addons on twitch breaks their rules, they will break the addon. So that’s the easiest way to avoid anything “dodgy”.

A friend of mine got banned for using addons a while ago, I would say you must be careful while choosing what addon to install, it is extremely risky and you may lose your account.

If he got banned, I’m sure it was for something, and perhaps for using something, but if so, that something was not an addon.
Addons can do only what Blizzard allows in their API.
Other things, like actual programs, can interfere with WoW’s operation. Using those can lead to bans.

You may not be lying, but your friend is… Addons dont get you banned. 3rd party programs (i.e. bots) do… just sayin’

There was a ban wave for model editors or? An accident tho, but hit quite a few people. Or ui smth idk didnt impact the game just changed how it looks.
But yh use twitch and nothing to worry. though i would stick to the ones often downloaded etc for savity reasons
