Can I level up to 50 in old zones?

Hey guys, I wanted to level one alliance character and we can say I’m very new to Alliance. Since I hate leveling in zones like BFA or SL etc I would like to level in old zones. I know that game telling you to choose a time portal but I don’t want to. Can I actually level up to 50 (by pure questing) in old zones starting from Northshire to Westfall and so on or do I have to choose a time portal ?

I’m really enjoying it so far, reading quests and stuff. These old zones are awesome and makes me actually feel like playing WoW.

Thanks in advance!

Hi! Yes you can!

You just need to select your race’s starting zone instead of Exile’s Reach, or I think the game will force you into BfA unless you speak to Chromie to change the timeline.

Not 100% sure as I always flip between Cataclysm and WoD for speed xD

maybe this can help

thanks for the link, i’ll check it out.

It’s not really a portal as such.
You speak with Chromie (a dragon in gnome form) and this will scale all quests and mobs to you level.
If you don’t do this then at certain levels you’ll start to outlevel a zone and no longer get xp. Old world zones like Westfall will max out at 30 without Chromie time. MOP will max out at 40 (I think) and Legion at 45.

The scaling of quests and mobs is the only difference so you’re still in the same world as everyone else, you don’t go through a portal to some other place.

It only “forces” you into BFA if you don’t skip the tutorial in Stormwind/Orgrimmar. And even if you don’t you just need to do the intro to BFA to unlock it (up to the point where you get the intro to BFA achievement).

Select Cataclysm in the Chromie time list. I levelled an Orc in some old Kalimdor zones a couple of months ago.

This.

That will give you the selection of the original zones in Eastern Kingdons and Kalimdor and the Cata zones in those same continents,
