Basically what the title says. I’ve been a VERY casual WoW gamer for years and never really bothered with the game lore, now all of a sudden I’d love to experience the game in order of the expansions. I learned you can do that using Chromie however I’m level 70 so my main character has outlevelled being able to use Chromie. If I start another character, is there a way to stop XP gain around, say, level 58?
I haven’t ever done it myself .somebody more knowledgeable can guide you on this . You could stop receiving xp in the past ? I’m not sure about present
You can stop at 69 and still use it.
Alliance go to the keep and the room on the right, is a rogue stealthing (you can see him though) called experience eliminator. Costs 25g (at least at 69)
Horde go to the valley of honour and into the building full of class trainers, go all the way to the top and same deal.
What Nim said. For alliance you’re looking for Behsten, for horde Slahtz (bugger is difficult to see, but he’s still there).
Keep in mind though, you may not be able to change timeline with Chromie if you xp-lock your character at 68/69, since that’s when you’re able to start TWW quest line.
Thank you for your answers! I’m glad that I can actually stop XP gain! I thought I was asking for something impossible but decided to give it a shot and ask anyway lol x
Just a wee little thing to be wary of though; while you can stay in chromie time up to lvl 69, the dungeon finder is bugged out so that after lvl 61 you can only queue for the starter dungeons of an expansion, (those requiring only lvl 10). The bug is as old as chromie time and comes around every time they up the chromie time level limit. It usually takes 1-2 years for blizzard to fix, so if you want to run dungeons via LFG, lock at 61 latest.
However, after lvl 59, a few oddities start to happen. At lvl 60 you no longer get the satchel rewards from dungeons, but in return you can queue for mini-instances like the proving grounds etc. There’s a trade-off there.
At lvl 61, MoB health plummet down to basically nothing, so you’ll be one-shotting most things. Pretty dull. Also, item level for quest rewards and so on seems to be capped at 330 for expansions prior to BfA, so if you go past 60 you’ll want to do it in BfA or newer.
That’s a lot to remember but I’ll certainly try! I had a laugh when you said Blizz takes a couple years to fix things, isn’t that just the truth?! Thank you for explaining a bit more to me, I appreciate it x
Doing all the side quests is impossible without hitting 70 but i just leveled a priest from lvl30 in BfA to 65 now by doing only the campaign quest. Done everything except Drustvar final quests…
So only doing the campaign seems possible in Timewalking without stopping xp.
