Can i unlock legion appearances from transmog bfa weapons?

I wanna ask if i can work my artifact weapon apearnces through using transmoges in bfa ?

Yes you can. All artifiact appearances are still available except for Mage Tower challenges. The latter ones were meant to be a solo challenge to unlock a cosmetic and would be trivialized by level 120 characters.

Some of the appearances still do require a lot of commitment, such as timed +15 keystone run or grinding honor levels in PVP.

You can, and happily the transmog of the artifact appearance will have the same quirks as if it was the original (for example, the “talking” weapons).

If you have the base appearance of the mage tower challenge you can still unlock the recolours, but only if you did the Mage Tower and completed it while it was current.

Does this also work on characters I didn’t get the original appearance on?

Let’s say I got the hidden skin on my Horde DH, but want to farm the 30 legion dungeons recolour on my Alliance DH that I created in bfa, will that still work? (while wearing the hidden one as transmog)

Appearances are account-wide, not faction-exclusive. It would be genuinely puzzling if this wasn’t the case. Edit to say that I don’t unfortunately know this for sure, so i will not make any definitive statements. Recolours may require a flag that the weapon itself was obtained in its entirety on the character, not just the appearance…

I think there was one for doing Kil’jaeden heroic which was time limited also.

No the only limited one is Mage Tower. Even the +15 timed requirement can be achieved in BfA.

I might remember it wrong then. But I also have a vague memory that one of the appearances required archaeology, which I read will be removed in SL.

I think that pre req is needed for one of the other colors on your Mage Tower artifact skin.
If you have one or more of those you can still unlock those colors finishing that raid.

They’re not removing archaeology like they did First Aid, they’re just not giving it a Shadowlands upgrade.

All previous Archaeology will still exist for now
