Can I use wow token in my character's bag without an active wow sub?

I have a lot of deadlines coming up and have cancelled my subscriptions, but bought a wow token off the AH to play over Christmas when I’m more free. I have it unused in my character’s bag, but will I need a wow sub to activate it? How can I activate it without an active wow sub?

I believe you can activate it from the character select screen, which you need no sub to access.

Hello Mooziaah,

You can only use the token on an inactive account in Modern WoW.

If you got the token on Classic, you must already have active game time in order to log in and use it.
