Hey guys, with the 9.0.5 people are talking about this new big dog build. What exactly have changed in 9.0.5 that made dreadstalkers or the legendary strong?
And how exactly this big dog build work? Talents, rotations etc. If someone could explain i would really appreciate it.
The only thing that changed for the dog build going into 9.0.5 is the buffs to dogs. Everything is the same.
For dog build you need to be Necrolord (Decimating Bolt). Talent into Dreadlash, this will now be a big aoe. And talent into From The Shadows, and into Power Siphon
On ST fight, Decimating Bolt + 20% from From The Shadows, and 30% from Power Siphon will give you hard hitting Demonbolts. 15k+ in some situation.
For AOE, Dreadbite hits hard 'cause it’s uncapped. And the From The Shadows is applied to all enemies through Dreadlash (20% shadowflame) which buffs all your Hand of Gul’dans and Implosions, both of which are uncapped.
I’ve been gearing my Demo this past week. And at ~190ilvl, I am doing around 3.5k overall at the end of dungeon, 6k+ burst ST, and a scary amount of AOE due to no caps on Dogs/Hand/Implosion. The build is good.
Firstly we have dreadstalker (10%) buff then the grim inquisitor leggo buff (from 3% to 4% per stack)
Mentioned above is kinda wrong you don’t NEED power siphon, that actually is more leaning towards balespiders the idea of big dogs build od to stack dreadlash /from the shadows so your dogs give you large cleave with hog and buff demonbolts . Also carnivorous stalkers conduit for the chance to apply dread bite twice
This kinda combos similar to balespider max demonbolt build but you are aiming to max dogs not bolts with the leggo
Ps yes big dogs build is based around grim inquisitor lego otherwise it falls off pretty hard vs other builds, this build is really good in regular pack pulls where sustainable aoe is needed but you don’t fall off as hard in single target compared to explosive potential which only nets value in aoe
The Necrolord Class Ability for Demonology Warlocks of all specializations is Decimating Bolt: a 45s cooldown that increases the damage of your next 3 Demonbolt by 100%, with an increasing damage amplifier the lower the health of the mob that it hits.
It definitely boosts damage of the Deadsatalker build if one is Necrolord but I am not going to change a covenant for just one build. This is why I hate covenants completely. You have to belong to a certain covenant to have the most of the one certain build. Good job Blizzard. That’s just the very good design!
Big dogs build isn’t the “new omg” answer for everything, yes demonic strength gains value in single target, maybe a little more if big burst demand lines up well with its cool down. Wilfred is still probably gonna be overall better with tyrannical weeks
That being said- you are forgetting the value of big dogs in situations where you can carry over damage from one pull to the next , or when you can clean up one pack with just hog/implosion so you can have a large stacked up dogs for the next pull on proc, if you plan around big dogs correctly you can generally ALWAYS have big damage from one pull to next with good timing, also some people have simmed these new builds and discovered with all the correct conditions (conduits/lego talents) big dogs isn’t even far behind on single target
if its a Tyranical week, meaning adds won’t have high HP, will i actually have the time to cast 3 or 6 SBs, 1 or 2 3x HOGs then Dogs? I feel like by the time i do this, pack is gonna be between 0 to 50% HP?
In my other option i can right away just hit demonic strenght or bilescourge and follow it with 5-6x implosion.
I suggest you look up the sims and have a play around with this
I doubt on pure single target you are gonna go big dogs but being honest it looks like it is a LOT closer with good selection to other builds when considering conduits and some trade off
Currently with correct picks taking big dogs with vilifiend instead of fos is simming competitive to other builds in single target because dogs hit damn hard alone with their uptime
Only the first pull. If the tank is quick, and there isn’t much running in between fights, it’s quite easy to carry over your damage. Making sure you have Demonic Cores/some imps stockpiled. If flows well once you get it going.
