Started in TBC but never really pvp’ed seriously until wrath and then all the way through cata. Cannot remember a time frost mages weren’t the demi gods they seem to be in pvp. I thought maybe in vanilla they won’t have as many abilities that make them broken. Hahaha. They are so far and beyond any other class that they are the go to class for boosting and speed levelling. Laughable.
No other class can:
Aoe snare at an instant
Instantly teleport out of range of the enemy
Have an anti burst absorb shield
Keep someone stunned (polymorph) for up to 15 seconds
Press a button that makes them invulnerable and then do all the above again
All whilst having top tier damage. In my battlegrounds there’s always a few frost mages that require 2-3 people just to eventually kill them which takes a good 20 seconds. And even then, that means the mage miscalculated as good ones know when they can just say “nah actually I won’t fight this” and just nova/blink away.
The answer to this question will heavily influence my class decision in wotlk. Can someone please tell me which class makes a mage’s life hell? I’m leveling a hunter at the moment. I google this question and all I read is “x can work”, “y can counter them in this very specific situation with engineering”. It seems like they don’t have a clear counter. Beyond me how they were allowed to be this broken for so many xpacs. Why the hell is everyone not talking about this?
Feral druids, and druids in general are a complete cancer upon magekind. A capable priest or shaman can also bring their own unique brand of hell.
A good lock and hunter can also be evenly matched with a mage.
It’s the melee classes without self heal that are countered by frost mage the most, which I assume is you.
On WotLK ? Enha shamans eat frost mages for breakfast, shadow priest can deal with them quite easily too … DKs are pretty good choice … hunters can melt them, but can theoretically get outplayed if there is big skill gap …
And honestly rogue is broken from vanilla all the way to retail, and while it can be annoying to play against perma slow, you should be able to kill pretty much anything as a rogue …
